I have some exciting news!!!

Android Press@press-android.bsky.social

We're thrilled to announce that we've acquired the horror novella GHOSTS OF BAKERSFIELD by K Lucian Jones @spideyj.com. This ghost story will be available to chill your spine in 2027!

A thing that I see asserted frequently in spaces focused on estranged adult children is that people are significantly more supportive of ending relationships with abusive partners than they are of ending relationships with abusive parents, but that hasn't been my experience...

When my abusive ex and I broke up, so many people wanted me to make nice with him that I ultimately left most of that social group. And I don't think that's uncommon?

But also, I'm not sure these kinds of comparisons are all that helpful. We should support people leaving relationships that are harmful when possible, regardless of what type of relationship it is.

I have tried a number of fussy chocolate chip cookie and brownie recipes and while I can acknowledge that they did produce better results in texture/flavor, I then found a simpler recipe that got me 80-90% of the results with less than half of the effort and those are the recipes I stand by lol

See also: the very fussy (and yes, delicious) meatloaf recipe that I've made twice, always with substitutions, and will never make again lol

fyi for the non-fussy but nearly as good recipes for cookies/brownies, I highly recommend Snacking Bakes by Yossy Arefi (her Snacking Cakes book is also very good and there are several recipes in it that I've made over and over again)

After over a year on ADHD meds, I am astonished I made it as far in my career as I have without them. And for the first time since starting, I miscalculated and am currently going without, facing a day of wall to wall meetings. I'm pretty sure I am going to be dead at the end of the day

my meds make coffee work and there's enough of them still in my system that it's still working (without them coffee is mostly just a tasty beverage lol) but I will probably pay for this later

the way capitalists have responded to both masks and remote work as an existential threat really proves how authoritarian they really are

I think in general, unless I say "surprise me", I do not want to be surprised

Man, I really wish I could stop operating from the margins of autistic burnout, but capitalism won't let me

I just want to be tucked inside a cocoon of low sensory input forever

Do they make weighted blanket hoodies that aren't too warm???

I never realized before how damaging it was to deeply believe no one could ever understand me

I'm glad I at least finally figured it out was better to be alone than try and make things work with people who were fundamentally incompatible with me

It's been another couple of very tough weeks at work, and I am so very tired. But I do feel like I am still doing a pretty good job as a manager, at least when it comes to supporting my people

"i feel like if you had to choose between me or that other person, you're not gonna choose me" okay well i feel like you think we're all way more likely to end up in a madman's deadly game than we really are

I didn't sleep well last night so I'm a bit tired and cranky this morning, which led to me explaining something to my boyfriend more tersely than I would like. So I came back and told him how much I appreciated him (because he responded only with sweetness) and like, where has this been all my life

It's not that hard to get sphynx cats riled up, but if you REALLY want to get them upset, take their heated beds and blankets away for an hour or two so you can wash them

Similarly, no more movies about virtual reality without furries involved in the production design

I think it should be a requirement to have visited at least one actual fetish club before you're allowed to direct a Hellraiser movie.

I'm watching Hellraiser: Hellworld for the first time. I'm not sure Death is the tarot card I'd pick to represent Pinhead, although I suppose a case could be made. However, not for the reasons the movie implies lol

This woman just said "my you-know-whats are getting hard" and I do not understand why she didn't just say nipples. They're in a murder lab/torture dungeon at a Hellraiser party. Pretty sure no one is gonna be offended by the word nipples here.

I think it should be a requirement to have visited at least one actual fetish club before you're allowed to direct a Hellraiser movie.

my first thought after seeing it was "why don't more people know about night of the comet"

Unexpected benefit to living with a musician is that my life has a soundtrack now and it's not just whatever ear worm my brain latched onto most recently

He also does sound effects which is very cute lol

Okay, it's this plus her screaming "go to hell" while throwing the puzzle box

They should make him a cenobite but maybe them not doing so is why this movie only has 13% on rotten tomatoes

In the course of trying to figure out how to watch Night of the Comet in our hotel last night, I ended up signing up for the free trial of mgm+, which means I can finally watch the last couple of Hellraiser movies I haven't seen

Telling a journalist with a substance abuse problem not to open the box is like shaking a bag of treats for our cats lol

This movie sure does have a lot of the protagonist screaming and also heaps of naked dead bodies covered in blood

I don't know why when someone asked about horror isekai movies, I forgot Hellraiser

Obviously there's also Backrooms and Annihilation, but I think there should be more portal horror

Currently watching Hellraiser: Deader, which appears to have a budget Julian Sands in it (Simon Kunz). He has the same air of sultry menace as Sands imo despite being arguably slightly less attractive

They should make him a cenobite but maybe them not doing so is why this movie only has 13% on rotten tomatoes

Finally showed my boyfriend Night of the Comet, one of my absolute favorite horror comedies. Fortunately he also appreciated it so he can stay lol

One thing that makes me really sad as a manager is how my reports respond to me expressing appreciation for their work, like they have never had a manager before who did this consistently, and it's wild to me because everyone on my team is incredibly talented and capable and SHOULD be appreciated.
