It will never stop being shocking that universities are still allowed to run secret kangaroo courts solely intended to protect their own reputations as well as the alleged criminals.

I have been trying to think of what Trump’s hideous “ballroom” project reminds me of — and I finally have it — it is Nicolai Ceausescu’s infamous and unfinished House of the People in communist Romania, which also brought awfulness to a lovely downtown.

This is why I keep saying: if Dems are serious about accountability, they need to be ready to bull their way through the scolding & tut-tutting that is inevitably going to greet even the mildest attempts. It will come from Rs, from pundits, from journalists, from centrist Ds. It'll be relentless.

This awful saga is a good glimpse into how MAGA gets propaganda laundered into mainstream discourse by making just enough noise to get news outlets to treat their outrage as a "controversy," which then requires even-handed treatement of both sides' stances: newrepublic.com/article/2168...

Imagine you call in Trump to campaign as a last ditch effort and he tells everybody you’re going to lose and starts talking about hot men’s asses instead

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Oh dear.

This is actually a much worse scenario than if someone had broken in and stolen the key, because at least only that blackhat group would be able to stage the man in the middle attack. Due to the nature of the fuckup LITERALLY EVERY SYSADMIN OF A MIDDLE NODE KNOWS THE KEY AND CAN STAGE AN ATTACK.

Meaning: contact with a textured surface by even a single ridge is enough for the brain to register it. This paints a picture: fingerprints are an essential part of browsing, arboreal (tree-dwelling) species, explaining their emergence in the primate & koala lines, separated by 100 million years.

Believe it or not, if you’ve paid off your home you are still a member of society and still need to pay for society. Now if you want to ask why homes—the dominant form of wealth among non-rich people—are relatively alone in forms of wealth that are taxed in the US, that is a different question.

Politico@politico.com

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Account now restored but 90 min of censorship, & who knows how much algorithmic suppression, is proof positive that letting a few billionaires control what we see/say/know is - perhaps - not the best plan. California - these fuckers are trying to keep you from passing Prop 40 & tanking 41 & 42.

What’s astounding to me is how “the president builds himself a palace with money given directly to him in secret by the richest people in America,” literally the most straightforward and worst executive-branch corruption story in US history, just gets shrugged at because Trump is unapologetic

Q: You said you're gonna put some of your own money into the ballroom. Are you? TRUMP: I may do that. When they run out, I'll be there, okay?

As Trump himself said, this entire campaign is about protecting Netanyahu.   Words of condemnation aren't enough, ICC members must take action to defend the rule of law. Remember, ICC prosecutors have the authority to open criminal investigations against ANYONE who obstructs justice.

He's really fuming. One epic Truth Social rant, another smaller one, a long diatribe at his rally last night, more whining in front of the White House and probably more today in Tennessee. (Why is he campaigning in Tennessee?) Such a deep cut. They gave it to a Black woman judge.

The trick he figured out (and frankly it's depressing so few other Dems have) is to not grade GOP on a curve or give them the benefit of the doubt. He treats them like the bad-faith scumbag hypocrites they are, doesn't call them "my friends across the aisle," equivocate or mewl about bipartisanship.
