On Monday we're finally playing @sonorode.com 's game, Warding Witches! It's such an honour! This will sort of kick off a two-week spooky games extravaganza, at least for the most part. I mean, I can't say no to @gameandcode.bsky.social and @bitowl.bsky.social 's Magnetic Catch demo, right? :P

there's a piece of advice in the gamedev sphere since forever and it says "however much time you think you need, double it" which is true, no matter how experienced you are so I doubled it. But now that I'm more experienced, I realize I should have doubled the double next game needs infinity time

While a lot of things I'm going for are (imo) improvements, having no bombs at all in a bullet hell definitely is deliberately breaking a genre convention. It stems from me personally not liking bombing in Shmups, in short, it becomes a button you use less and less the better you get. #indiedev

youtu.be/dxrjNIvwqEg?... My highlight this GC was Warding Witches, actually a German Bullet Hell with an interesting shield mechanic (instead of traditional bombs) that freezes surrounding bullets. Had a little chat with the dev, too, and they absolutely know their shit. Big recommendation!

Ich war auch am Battlewrights Stand und habe es ausprobiert. Platformer sind normalerweise nicht soo meins, aber der Multiplayer war wirklich lustig! Und eine Singleplayer gibt es auch. Und die Musik ist von @sonorode.com ist fantastisch!

I've had the unique pleasure of testing this pretty early locally (also, the two peeps from Nozomu are super sweet). Even that early, it already oozed with charme and atmosphere, definitely a must-try demo! #burnwithme #steamnextfest

I've done tons of patching since the demo came out, even balancing to make the steam leaderboards a proper competition. One person only had a steam deck to play Steam games on, which the demo didn't support (funky resolution in handheld), so here we are. EVERYBODY gets to play!! ✨🧹
