Abdul El-Sayed's "weird friends" didn't beat up 100+ cops while trashing the U.S. Capitol. JD Vance's "weird friends" did.

Q: Is El-Sayed a jihadist like President Trump said yesterday? JD VANCE: Well look, he certainly has a lot of weird friends

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

New from me: The US has faced a higher cost than any other country from the global Hormuz oil shock, with the crisis adding $160 billion to its fuel bill — or $471 per person on average — despite being the world’s largest oil producer.

You can do the same thing, buying a house and borrowing against it—ha ha, just kidding, normal people get taxed annually on their wealth via property taxes, the "you can't tax wealth, the economy will collapse!" rule applies solely to the super-rich.

Steven T. Dennis@steventdennis.bsky.social

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

Republican bias in our major media has almost reached the level of parody. As darkly funny as that media’s constant haughty, huffy denials that any bias exists.

Contrast the NYT breathless, days before an election coverage of a private e-mail server and their coverage of additional rape accusations of an already convicted sex offender sitting President.

Kushner took a $50 mn bribe from the Emiratis to orchestrate the firing of Rex Tillerson as secretary of state, according to Matt Cole's new book, Princes and Thieves, out today. To be clear, this is a serious felony, if true.

Biden’s stuttering and stumbles allowed the political press to quickly conclude he was no longer fit for office. That same press wants to take their time with Trump’s nightly racist rally speeches, blatant corruption and additional rape accusations however, as any conclusions might be a bit hasty.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

It is atrocious we have to operate under this constant credible and explicit threat from one political party, the fact we keep calling it a “free and fair election” needs some light revising

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

Yes. My median scenario is Trump rants, it becomes their talking point, DOJ probably files some more junk suits like these, but then not much else happens. There's real risk of worse, some full push to go insane on Jan 3, but more likely it doesn't get that far, and also that would still fail.

There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

Kyle Clark is one of the top journalists in Colorado, if not the entire country. If he says 60 Minutes blew it on this Tina Peters story, that’s exactly what happened.

Kyle Clark@kylec.bsky.social

It was disappointing that @60minutes.bsky.social, with all its resources and expertise, broke zero new ground on the Tina Peters story. The report was just a repetition of what local journalists reported long ago.
