I've finally been able to put all frontend solutions on the same grid by recognizing them as a product of 2 axes and 3 core responsibilities. HTMX, LiveView, RSCs, islands, SPAs, Sync Engines... None express what another can't. They differ in efficiency and ergonomics. πŸ‘‡

Another tease of the @e18e.dev framework tracker is our improvement-over-time page for each framework. We record each major and minor version for every test. Picking on @solidjs.com here, but look at some of the improvements in version two for SolidStart. SSR First Paint and Build Times:

🚨 Solid 2.0 has reached Release Candidate! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³ Async is first-class β€” computations return promises, the graph suspends and resumes itself. Plus optimistic mutations and a reactive core rebuilt from scratch. The Big Reveal πŸ‘‡ www.solidjs.com/blog/solid-2... 1/3

The ecosystem is moving with us: Router, Meta, and vite-plugin all have 2.0 releases out. That includes Solid Primitives, Kobalte, TanStack, Storybook, Solid Testing Library etc... Maintainers β€” if your library isn't ready yet, come find us in #next on Discord. 3/3

The @solidjs.com team is making an amazing job with Solid Start 2. Dependencies have dropped from 479 in v1 to 137 in the last v2 alpha version. And apparently a Rust version of vite-plugin-solid is coming up which would drop all the 50 or so Babel deps.

@solidjs.com has a new `sld` tagged template function coming out to replace its `html` template function. `sld` is renamed from `html` because it not HTML-syntax-compatible, with JSX-like case-sensitive <Component> syntax. No more pesky <${Component}> syntax!

Async in frameworks happens in 4 phases: 1. create 2. consume 3. block 4. read The problem? Most fuse 2 & 3. Consumption triggers blocking. This puts DX (coloration) at odds with UX (blocking). Solid 2.0 snaps them to the poles. Colorless logic. Non-blocking UI.

Very excited to announce that I have joined @powersync.com as a Developer Relations Engineer! Sync Engines are the future of app development on every platform, not just the web, and provide a necessary abstraction for AI applications and agentic engineers.

Huge thanks to @convex.dev for sponsoring Solid!πŸŽ‰ Your support helps us continue building fast, reactive experiences for devs everywhere. We're excited to see the amazing apps our community will create combining Solid's fine-grained reactivity with Convex's real-time backend. πŸ’ͺ
