[Trying out AI company-style marketing] South of the March is coming. I don't how to stop it. If you don't wishlist the game, it will fire you from your job. It will still fire you if you wishlist it. Every time I look at it, I get scared. Wishlist the game now. You are in danger. s.team/a/4628420/

It's cool when you try to sleep but you suddenly can't figure out what to do with your arms. You think back on previous times you've slept and try to remember where you put them then.

Mike Flanagan: "yeah I think [insert movie from the 70s] was okay but imagine if my wife was in it."

Bloody Disgusting@bloody-disgusting.com

Mike Flanagan wants to make a JAWS movie. Flanagan explains during a Reddit AMA session this week, "Honestly, I wish to hell I could make a JAWS movie." "Another example where no one will EVER get close to the original, but there is a ton of room for improvement on the sequels."

Producer: "I don't know, Mike, I'm not sure there's really a good role for your wife in this Carrie series." Mike: "What about the Nick Fury role?" Producer: "What?" Mike: "What?"

My take on the new Carrie is that her friend Sue was just in a Tubi movie called Buzzkill, and I thought it was pretty fun and she gives it way more than a made-for-Tubi horror role demands, and they should put her in more stuff.

True boss thinking right here: productivity is when you have more lines of code with less intention behind them.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

One of the worst parts about writing for games (or anything) is when you're excited to have solved a long-standing and frustrating narrative problem, but there's no possible way to explain it to anybody else that wouldn't have them go "uhh ok?" so you just bury it in your head where the trash goes.

One of my favorite things about Letterboxd is seeing reviews that say stuff like "yes the acting wasn't the best but everyone did their best," this genuinely regularly sells me on a movie.

I like how often Yakuza games have a shootout scene where like 15 people die, as if that wouldn't be more gun deaths than Japan as a whole experiences in a single year and derail national news and all of politics for months.

I just saw a guy lamenting the state of "American indie cinema" because it now produces people like Zach Cregger instead of auteurs like Todd Solondz and Vincent Gallo and you know what I agree I want to see Vincent Gallo's Resident Evil.

I need a dev alert system that starts going off every time I've spent too much time trying to do something a smart way and forces me to stop thinking about it and do it the stupid way I thought of first.

"It's so very important that I don't duplicate any code..." [MY COMPUTER PUTTING A GUN TO MY HEAD]: "Just write it twice, idiot. Nobody cares what you do. Nothing actually matters at all. Just write it in two places."

Insider sources are telling me they plan to announce that South of the March will not be on Playstation, and therefore you have no choice but to wishlist it on Steam instead. s.team/a/4628420

I've been doing a Flonase spray for the last couple days, and for some reason it smells exactly like the stuff I used to spray on Warhammer minis to make the super glue dry faster, so it's triggering some kind of scent memory that makes me think I'm doing something extremely harmful to my brain.

So funny watching the media try to write 2000's era Grand Theft Auto Outrage articles now that the whole country is a casino run by murderers.

One thing I like about the animated Resident Evil movies is that they continually retread the "are they really zombies?" and "shoot them in the head" stuff despite there having been years if not decades of widely-publicized zombie outbreaks.

They need to show the mythical median voter of the Resident Evil universe who, after like 100 near-apocalyptic incidents solved by Leon and a motorcycle, has still simply never heard of a zombie before.

1% of game dev is doing all the programming and design and writing and art and music and stuff, and 99% of it is figuring out why one line of text moves five pixels when you open the menu but only every second time you do it.

We all hate expository dialogue, but I just watched the new Captain America and there's a scene where he does something weird with his robo-wings and an onlooker basically goes "he got stuff that lets him do that in the show you didn't watch" and I was like, you know what, fair.
