It’s #FemaleFilmmakerFriday! As I did last year, I’m beginning my new #DirectedByWomen thread with an Indie Spirit contender. And, since it’s Christmastide, I'm bearing witness to the religious musical bio-pic THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE (2025) by Mona Fastvold. #52FilmsByWomen #1 #Filmsky 📽️

Meta strongly appears to be an enemy of democracy in the US. Proceed accordingly. If you're a politician, activist, or organization on the left, you HAVE to build your presence off of Meta and X - which basically means here and Mastodon. Bring your audience over as much as possible. It's critical.

Hey Meta 👋 We are currently hosting a get-out-the-vote rally in Osceola County, home to a large Puerto Rican community, and our #LatinosConAngie Instagram page was suddenly taken down while we were actively posting content from the event.

I'll say this: Still not convinced by the direction but the woodwinds are 🔥🔥🔥

Still a bit jetlagged and made it to MANON at SF Opera with just a minute to spare. Not yet convinced of all the performances but the reflective set is inspired. The costumes, which I can only describe as deranged period dress, put me in mind of THE BRIDE! (complimentary).

We have to think about collapsing Trump poll numbers and Rs turning on him the same way we'd think about finally being able to corner a rabid raccoon in your garage. Good news: he's out of options. Bad news: he's a rabid raccoon.

😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Supercut:

Noticing the same hate campaign for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie that we saw for Supergirl. Always when it’s a female director and/or female led action movie. Amazing how that works!

THEY ARE NOT POWERLESS TO STOP HIM! Go back to Washington, stand on the steps of the Capitol and demand Johnson and Thune recall the House and Senate, and impeach him. THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK! THERE IS LITERALLY AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL! (It's called the Constitution.)

Republican lawmakers are incensed about Trump's dismissal of Ukraine — and powerless to stop him. That frustration hit a new peak on Monday as they sought to address Trump’s decision to purchase Russian diesel, waive sanctions on Moscow, and potentially stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

I have now entered the final phase of my French recharge trip: the Burgundy country house. Long lunches, long walks, my cousin's pâté de pommes de terre and her husband's bœuf bourguignon, reading by the fire, and most importantly, games.

French recharge trip so far: 7 Mariage Frères tea refills 6 new paperbacks 5 different regions 4 cousins 3 train trips 2 national parks 1 bouillabaisse

Current status: Thinking about how my life would change if I could travel between SF and LA in two and a half hours by train as one can do between Bordeaux and Paris (also 6+ hours by car).

Imagine if you will, wandering the Gascon countryside and stumbling upon a dwelling that is part abandoned fairytale cottage and part hippie commune and you have an idea of where I've been the past few days.

"This is your brain on drugs." Because people were hungry for that fried egg.

Hive mind, settle a Gen X debate for me. What's more famous: "I learned it by watching you" OR "This is your brain on drugs" And if you need more context then you aren't allowed to answer.
