I like that this is, in some ways, basically the same idea as scouring the white horses - it's there, it'd be a shame if it got tatty, so let's look after it.

This is cool - volunteers from the WY Aviation Heritage League repainted an old airmail arrow this week. Learn more about the organization here: www.wyomingaviationheritage.org/general-1

things, as per all of you & the meme, that are better now: coffee, accessibility of queer literature, staying in contact with people far away, the Overground, period products, the kids are all queer now, no one calls you "gay" as an insult, you can take hot drinks into the Bod. What a lovely world.

When I was a kid, my immigrant parents spoke to family back home once a week for 10 minutes on a Sunday. also, you can't get bad coffee in the UK any more, only slightly-worse-than-average coffee.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

when did body piercing become “this placement can elevate your ear curation” and not “put spikes in your body cos you fucking want to”

you know, it’s not some Great Compromise, and I despise that rhetoric. Trans and nb people and all the ordinary decent people who think they’re fine are co-opted, brutalised & morally injured. Transphobes & bigots aren’t happy, because nothing will satiate that appetite for violence.

Sitting in a waiting room next to a smart, enthusiastic young woman whose every utterance is being casually dismissed by a smirking boyfriend.

My first day of school when it turned all the other kids were a better colour and were super into that

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

the thing is, I have all you long-time beloved weirdoes following me, but some pro types and some friends who are also colleagues, so maybe I shd have separate pro/RL/fannish bluesky, but I'm tired & old. you can all read my nonsense fanfic if you want to. it's good, I'm good, don't read it at work.

also, long-time beloved weirdoes: you're the best, never leave me, what if I HADN'T been writing sexually explicit fiction about other people's intellectual property for twenty-seven (27) years.

I don't know how this fic packs so much into such a relatively small word count, but it really does, I absolutely love it

if you happen to be up late on your Friday night, here is a 1200w m/m PWP that I wrote when I had the flu and even told ppl about and then forgot existed. I have definitely tidied it up. archiveofourown.org/works/94312616

I got my rook done this morning! I was sort of afraid it would hurt, forgetting I have the pain tolerance of a dead snake. Anyway it looks very cool!

here it is, I adore it! and I do love my curated ear: two plain silver studs, one engraved wild bird stud from a silversmith at Folk by the Oak, a cluster of silver gems in the low helix which I'm gonna replace with a leaf design at some point, and the rook in due course will be a silver hoop.

If I went to Switzerland and won a Swiss watch precision contest, I would literally never talk about anything else

Katie Mack@astrokatie.com

I went to Geneva a few weeks ago and spoke on a panel about the nature of time for a Geneva Watch Days event. While I was there, on a lark, I entered a competition to most precisely calibrate a Swiss watch. And today I found out that I won! 😃 www.instagram.com/reel/Dd6hUTB...

this fic is so sad and so good and so perfect, I cannot cope 😍😭

I was encouraged to write sad fanfic while recovering from the flu, god I hate recovering from the flu, here is a story. archiveofourown.org/works/92893706

In case you ever wonder who you'll be when you grow up, if you'll have the same soul and values as you do right now, I'm doing my Yuletide noms for the twentieth consecutive time

I did reach home safely after some obstacles! thanks, friends.

I am about two thirds through this 25-hour journey across the world with flu (?) and cluster and I am so so SO done

Setting off for home sufficiently under the weather that lovely Singapore Airlines have arranged for special assistance for me, also people of Brisbane your airport is SHIT. no water fountains or charging points!

Toowoomba, the small country Queensland town I am in, has a railway station built in 1867 that has not changed in any respect since, and feels ghostly with its two services a week (this is mid-morning on a weekday in September). (I gravitate to stations in foreign places, it’s a genetic trait)

Would you, some random Jehovah’s Witness, come to an Indian family’s house the day before a wedding? (don’t worry, I squashed them flat)
