The drive by calligraphy is absolutely always one of my favorite parts of being on panels at Readercon!

@benjaminrosenbaum.com with great points as always- one of the other panelists was saying we shouldn’t be worried because of the human propensity for resistance, but that’s a bad argument because we are the humans that need to be resisting.

My story “Memeostasis” was in last month’s @lightspeedmagazine.com! I'm a slacker & also underwater with various eldercare & moving adventures so I am only posting about it now. It's a classic kinda outer-space-shenanigans/literature-of-ideas SF yarn, with a stylistic nod to Terry Bisson. Enjoy!

I'm not a professor, but this strikes me as amazing pedagogy, a fascinating experiment... and also just a great story (I particularly like the third-act twist).

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out. As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class. Here's what happened:

ugh, there never seems to be a pause in the hellscape sufficient to make an Awards Eligibility Post, instead of screaming into the void But, in case you are curious, for 2025: "Regarding the Childhood of Morrigan, Who Was Chosen to Open the Way" appeared over at Reactor mag.

Enjoyed the heck out of talking to @benjaminrosenbaum.com about Laurie J. Marks' FIRE LOGIC. Which is really just supremely good fantasy, different priorities & conceptions than the swords & magics might suggest, and Ben as always is full of interesting insights:

The first is @benjaminrosenbaum.com's "Regarding the Childhood of Morrigan, Who Was Chosen to Open the Way." A very small child literally falls through the cracks in an ever-shifting, ever-strange far future. Available in Reactor: reactormag.com/regarding-th...

@maryannemohanraj.bsky.social and I alternately praise, bristle at, relativize, invert, defend, and kvetch about the ancient writing norms of the Turkey City Lexicon (www.sfwa.org/2009/06/18/t...) on this episode of the podcast.
