“My commitment is about delivering a city that is not only affordable to each and every New Yorker, but is one that each and every New Yorker feels proud of living in.”

These executive orders are all illegal. Yet they are being treated by the federal government practically as a higher form of law than that which is passed by the legislature. And therein lies the fundamental problem of Trump 2. This, almost more than anything else, must be stopped.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump admin must facilitate the return of SMART Union Local 100 apprentice Kilmar Abrego Garcia. They need to quit wasting time and bring our union brother home NOW!

They quite literally believe that they can make reality into anything they choose it to be. This, among many other things, has to be seen as a red line.

Arturo Dominguez@extremearturo.bsky.social

As the truth about Abrego Garcia comes out, the Trump administration has begun a propaganda campaign against him and the news media, saying mainstream media is defending an MS-13 gang member. open.substack.com/pub/extremea...

"Criminal contempt". Now lets see some arrests. Pronto.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Judge Boasberg: “the Court ultimately determines that the Government’s actions on that day demonstrate a willful disregard for its Order, sufficient for the Court to conclude that probable cause exists to find the Government in criminal contempt.”

How many times do we have to re-learn that appeasement of fascists is *guaranteed* to fail?

When law firms signed those deals with Trump, people warned: there are no guarantees he won’t come back for more. So here we are. A six-byline story: @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/u...

As the Trump regime urges "drill baby drill" and romanticizes coal mining, emissions keep going up and carbon sinks are showing signs of severe stress. Remember ... just because you're not interested in the climate crisis does not mean the climate crisis isn't very much interested in you.

Sarah Kaplan@sarahkaplan48.bsky.social

The proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere grew at a record 3.75 ppm last year -- a jump 27% bigger than the previous record increase. The best explanation: forests and soils are so stressed by climate change they're losing the ability to absorb our emissions. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

This is something we can all do.👇🏼 File a complaint with the FL and DC Bar to have Pam Bondi disbarred for not complying with the 9-0 Supreme Court ruling to return Mr. Garcia from El Salvador.

It certainly looks like Elon Musk’s henchmen stole all the data from the agency which protects workers rights, tried to cover it up, and then threatened to kill the guy who blew the whistle on it.

Here’s what I’d like to see: Harvard, Columbia, Yale etcetera rescind the degrees for any current administration official who works with the government to dictate what these institutions teach. Because you can’t collaborate with domestic terrorists.

In defiance of the Supreme Court & without any evidence, the White House claims that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a “terrorist,” who was “sent to the right place.” This is a blatant LIE. He is innocent. He cannot be allowed to rot in an El Salvadorian jail. He must be brought home.

Universities will win if they stick together and focus on what's actually important - non-profit teaching and research towards the public good - and ditch this neoliberal idea that the university is just a business like any other.

This is the way.

Corruption is quickly becoming the through line, and the message from the Los Angeles stage hammered this home: Your life feels more difficult, more stressful today as a direct result of a deeply entrenched plutocratic perfidy.

Four R senators and four R House members could announce they're caucusing with the Dems for now, and will vote for Schumer for Majority Leader and Jeffries for Speaker, because the threat to the rule of law is dire. Meanwhile, they'll work with Democrats to construct guardrails against dictatorship.

There MUST be arrests over this. Without enforcement power we are dead in the water.

Trump defying a 9-0 Supreme Court decision is the reason I say "if we still have free and fair elections in the United States" when I talk about 2026 midterms.

The Supreme Court has ruled <<9-0>> that #ÁbregoGarcía's deportation was a mistake and that the the US government needs to facilitate his return. The Trump regime and the El Salvadoran government are outright refusing to obey the Supreme Court at this point. There must be arrests over this.

AOC: We must acknowledge the terrifying moment we are in right now. What we are hearing and seeing with our own eyes is, in fact, happening. We are watching our neighbors, students, and friends being fired, targeted, and disappeared. It is real.

DEMOCRATIC ELECTEDS: You need to be holding hearings like Raskin/Schiff did but on the bloodbaths at Social Security and IRS. DOGE can now pocket everyone's personal information. IRS is being set up to make billionaire taxes optional; no more phone support # at SSA. HOLD THE HEARINGS.

Trump is the worst of all possible worlds. Aggressive enough to prompt retaliation. Weak enough to give up quickly. Stupid enough not to know the difference.

40% of China’s exports to the US are electronics which now have no reciprocal tariffs. So the tariff policy of the nutter in the White House is now in tatters because he realised he was shooting America in the foot. Meanwhile China’s tariffs remain.

Is there another move here after the resignation? Or does this largely turn the keys over to the vandals?

It was clear from the very start that DOGE had nothing at all to do with "efficiency" or "savings" - it was about political control, and nothing else.

C-Bo the Eggman@cbotheeggman.bsky.social

No DOGE savings at all. It's all a complete lie. All they've done is fire qualified workers while not actually cutting spending at all.

Small town America is going to pay a HUGE price for their Trump fixation. Libraries - vanished. Social security offices - closed. Health providers - out of business. When the Trump wave finally rolls out it's going to be carcasses all over the beach.

The White House wants to cut ALL K-12 education funding to the state of Maine based on their refusal to back down from support for transgender athletes. They also want to hand out $10,000 checks to every citizen in Greenland to buy them off and seize their land. These two things are related.

Because Maine stood up for *two* transgender athletes, ALL K-12 federal funding to the state is being threatened. This is not America.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

This is all because Maine wouldn’t remove two trans student athletes from their teams. Two in the entire state.
