@offprint.app I was also wondering if it's possible to create a Component that fetches the latest post from either an RSS feed or another of my Atmosphere/Offprint blogs?
@offprint.app Is there a way to create a Share button in a post like what Substack does before publishing the post? Or can one only do that after publishing?
💯“It’s a mandate to stand up to Premier Doug Ford more, rather than taking the conciliatory tack that hasn’t resulted in saving any bike lanes. Oh, and removing bike lanes doesn’t win municipal elections…Chow also desperately needs to talk about police corruption. The silence was scandalous” #TOpoli
Sorry to everyone at the @spacing.bsky.social election party who I ignored as I hived myself off in the corner of the bar to write this. Here's a gift link.

The journalist missed her emphatic opening remarks about democracy. I hope I’m reading them right as @mayoroliviachow.ca’s salvo to pursuing Charter City status. #TOpoli#onpoli
“Toronto voters turned out in significantly higher numbers for the 2026 municipal election, delivering the city’s strongest voter participation rate since 2014 and reversing a decline that peaked with a historic low just four years ago.”

The dense subtropical thorn forest is right along the migratory routes for thousands of rare bird species.
It was the best hope for a restoration of native ocelot and jaguarundis.
The wall would kill the ability of the area to be a wildlife corridor, effectively blocking animal movement.
Toronto needs Charter City status. Greens supporting that loudly will go a long way to restoring democracy to us and then expanding it to all cities. #onpoli

Ford's inept govt decided not to send renewal notices for driver's licenses & health cards.
I signed up for the "optional" digital alerts. I never got one.
Today at the doctor's office they told me my health card had expired, my driver's license had expired too.

I think this is the first time in a long time I’ve felt a little bit of hope. Maybe Toronto can push back against the racing to the past Ford and Carney are indulging in. 🤞
Bedtime! 🥱
It felt like people were voting who’d normally yawn. I don’t know if it was the water issue triggering people’s anti-US feelings (Toronto is proud of our well-run public services, my complaints about Toronto Water notwithstanding, still way better than alternative) or fed up w Ford type politics.
With more than 520,000 votes earned and a few polls still left to count, Olivia Chow will be elected with the largest raw vote total of any mayor since Toronto’s amalgamation in 1998.
(Many more people in the city since Mel Lastman’s days, of course.)
Because the Toronto mayoral election is the largest one in the country, this also means Olivia Chow has won more votes in an election than any other in Canadian history. (Mel Lastman held the record with 483,277 in 2000.)

Good one! 😂 This one I can endorse. I noted her first point was all about democracy. And emphasized that concept, which the Supreme Court tossed when it said yes to Ford meddling in our election. Charter City here we come! *whispers I hope*🤞
I think more progressive Councillors voted in and ward incumbents tossed reflects both a return to wanting services back more than cutting taxes and a rejection of Ford and Carney’s conservative policies. Maybe Toronto realizing can’t have good infrastructure & services sans a sustainable tax base.
Braeden coming in 3rd with no publicity — never even heard of him until saw his name on the ballot — makes one wonder how many of his votes were meant for @mayoroliviachow.ca … #TOpoli
Interesting factoid: both Bradford and Chow came to Toronto at 13 years old. Bradford’s love for Toronto vibrated out of him. Chow bursting with energy: Democracy. Practical programs to reduce Torontonians’ costs. Consensus and compassion. Would be something if she makes food affordable! #TOpoli
Over half a million votes for Olivia Chow for mayor! Broadcasters are calling it. Chow has won a second term - this for a full term as first term was a by-election after Tory resigned. So relieved!! I don’t agree with all her policies but not voting for cut/freeze taxes as a panacea platform #TOpoli
Why are they saying Olivia Chow didn’t address affordability? Is media thinking only property tax rates are the only aspects of cost? Apparently renters make up 50% of Toronto population. But they’re not the only segment who need better cheaper transit, grocery help, more poverty reduction.
Another myth promulgated by “experts” -need a Bradford strong mayor power to “get things done” as if Chow using collaboration didn’t resolve 911 response times in her short term, which Tory never did in all his years. Get Cafe TO expanded. Snow removal addressed. Etc. Collaborative ppl are effective

I didn’t know Bradford was a figure skater. You’d think he’d be all in on active transport: biking, wheeling, walking, public transit taking our roads back from car aggression.

Toronto election announcements delayed because of long lines at the Scarborough and Regent Park polling stations. Suggesting it’s shift workers heading to vote after work. Plus Olivia Chow’s campaigners working on getting out the vote till last minute. Nice 👍
There are still some voting places with voters in line. Unofficial results for the 2026 Toronto Municipal Election will be available after the polls close at toronto.ca/Elections.
Results will begin to be available at approximately 9 p.m.
The online part was important too, of course. We collectively decided to not interact with any right wing post or comment ever. Trolls and bots lost their power. This is a good lesson.
Voting places for Toronto’s 2026 municipal election will close at 8 p.m. today. You can still vote if you're in line by 8 p.m.

It’s voting day! 🗳️ Torontonians: make sure you vote for OLIVIA Chow not Braeden Chow. The first names are in teeny tiny print on the ballot and it’s easy to mix up Braeden for Olivia. Check you’re voting for the right Chow, Olivia, when filling in the circle! #Toronto#TOpoli@mayoroliviachow.ca

One of the great joys of Fall is taking the whole family out to the country and going black bear-picking.
Looks like a good crop this year. Be sure to grab a bushel basket and some bandages on your way into the orchard!

I got an email awhile ago saying my Metblogs link in a 2008 post was out of date and to point it to them as they'd taken it over. Me, being the perennial skeptic, went uhhh. Finally checked the Wayback Machine. Found my old Metblogs profile. Updated links in #BlogPost. jeejeebhoy.ca/2008/07/18/f...
This was after I spent fucking forever on trying to fix display error messages on my website's blog posts. Updated my php, which allowed me to update a visual plugin. Error message persisted. I asked @whc.ca virtual assistant. Pointed to the fix. Couldn't find option. Deactivated the effing plugin.😡
Meanwhile @vivaldi.com was slow then slower then practically came to a stall while I was trying to fix the errant plugin's settings in my website's backend. Argh!! Switched to Firefox. At least it worked at normal speed. Spent almost an hour on this palaver and all I wanted to do was update the link
The election of our discontent, final column. Hardest one to wrote. Had to rewrite it from scratch to get the argument clear. City elections are a catch-all for angst that isn’t directed to the place where change can actually happen. It’s a kind of dysfunction. I hope you’ll read & share it.

Concussion from a #CarCrash is no joke. With secondary cascading effects from microglia spreading their neuron-destroying messaging into uninjured areas, #BrainInjury can worsen over the succeeding year. And even if symptoms abate, risk of #dementia doesn’t. Why EVERYONE injured should be treated.
Brain injury can happen to anyone- 2% of the population lives with a TBI
Government of Canada on TBI data (2024) reported one of the top causes of TBI include "motor vehicle collisions and pedestrians struck by vehicles" health-infobase.canada.ca/brain-injuri...
Insurers need to take this seriously
