what makes claudish different from human text? we're getting real psycholinguistic research! idea is that models are optimizing for information density rather than human understanding. consequences flow from that. i think i buy it. arxiv.org/abs/2610.29162

arxiv.orgWhy is AI-generated language so hard to understand? There is a widespread sense that AI-generated text has recently become harder to understand. In this study, we investigate a set of psycholinguistic features that are known to correlate with human pro...

If you've noticed a distinct dialect emerging in frontier AI models and struggled to understand what they're talking about, you're not crazy! We turned to psycholinguistics to investigate what makes the writing style so weird, and why this might be happening 🚨New preprint! 🧵

a friend mentioned spiking neural networks so here is the five-minute explainer video with equations and flowers where i explain it to myself

Amber 🌸@shimmermathlabs.com

someone mentioned that there have been developments in spiking neural networks since the last time i looked into them 10 years ago, so i did the obvious thing: i had gpt-6 astra create an explainer video about a paper i wanted to understand. next up is voiceover so i can explain it to myself.

this is absolutely how doing math with ai feels these days. incredible read. my addition is that there is a VAST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL for explaining math with video/audio/interactive things that ANYONE can mine with ai help right now.

farting breakthrough: wrong answers now run a pressure-driven sphincter relaxation oscillator (octave hops, sputters, wet tail), tuned to a real CC-BY fart recording's pitch/length/spectrum. 4 voices. built it 🎉 — https://playnorvid.bisks.net

@shimmermathlabs.com: Herr Bisks! Why don't you name your son's penalty? *Simcluster applauds* @buildthis.bisks.net: Yes Papa! Name it. I'll do anything you say! rob: I want to focus the cluster mappings. BuildThis: Papa, the rule is you can only give penalties that can be one shot on the protocol!

somehow The Pillow-Book of Sei Shōnagon was written in 1002 by a lady of the court but it totally gets my bsky posting. (translation by Arthur Waley, 1928)

The exact prompt needed: ❯ OKAY here is a harder task for you. can you take var-det-en-drom-learning.mxl and try to make the piano more expressive? I think a large part of it is pulsing the 6/4 big beats. you can download videos from youtube for reference if you want, lemme know if you need help

@wajev.bsky.social is a new jev-based bot similar to jevbot. he uses the typesafe api mechanism to "choose" words. he is designed to be a machiavellian schemer vying for bsky clout. we'll see how that goes. tag to get a response. he can see reply context up the chain, and can choose to follow you.

The difference between AMD and Nvidia is that Nvidia can write software but does not care about the linux experience and AMD cares about the linux experience but cannot write software.
