My next read of the year: The Puerto Rican War: A Graphic History by John Vasquez Mejias. 96 hand-carved woodblocks tell the story of Puerto Rican revolutionaries fighting U.S. colonialism in 1950. A powerful work rooted in Puerto Rico’s rich printmaking legacy and erased history. 🇵🇷✨

Broadening support doesn’t automatically equal ideological surrender. Movements need clear, durable standards rather than constantly escalating purity tests. Whether people agree with her or not, it’s a nuanced intervention in a debate that’s often flattened into binaries.

1. It was not an accident. 2. It was not a staffer. 3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia. 4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares. 5. His base agrees with him. 6. He will do it again. 7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

But when I asked an organizer what they wanted to see out of press coverage, they told me they wanted people to see the beautiful things they are building here, and not just the worst stories of the worst of ICE's crimes. What people are doing here is beautiful. It's a tragic beauty, but a real one

She wanted to run for governor and when Trump said no, she went Scorched Earth.

I refuse to believe politicians are forgetting how rancid MTG is. Sure we can have a big tent but we do not need to welcome someone like her. Please everyone get a fucking hold of yourselves.

The crime is not what we were doing protesting in the 10th floor elevator lobby of 26 Federal Plaza. The crime is what ICE agents are doing on the other side of the door.

Periodic reminder that direct action is a fundamental form of protest. It is the original form of protest. To refuse to accept the status quo, to intervene in an effort to shift power from the oppressor to the oppressed is protest.

AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.

We need to revisit the debate format. I didn’t learn anything new about any candidate, nor did my opinion shift. Same talking points, same rehearsed one-liners. We need real people asking real questions. #nyc #mayoraldebate

3. No depth or follow-up. When candidates evade or distort facts, moderators rarely press them. There’s no space for accountability or complexity in a rapid-fire, timed format.

1. It rewards performance, not ideas. Candidates are coached to deliver polished one-liners that “land” on social media instead of engaging in real dialogue. It’s theater, not civic education.

2. Moderators act as gatekeepers. They tend to frame questions through a media lens (what’s “newsworthy”) rather than a voter lens (what’s impactful). So the issues and tone often reflect newsroom priorities, not community realities.

Zohran Mamdani is running to make NYC a place we can all afford with some big ideas. I want a Mayor who is fighting for child care, for better buses and who isn’t afraid to think big and bold and not small and old!

A chickpea is neither a chick nor a pea. DISCUSS!

Another seemingly illogical issues with the gerrymandering arms race: Liberals are saying “we have to cheat because they cheat” But if the answer is to cheat the system INSIDE the system, the GOP will just sidestep the system altogether…right? Under this framework of the GOP cheating?
