ICE shot a New Yorker today while his five year old was in the car. But tomorrow, they're going to try to villainize this father and make themselves victims. We’re on the scene to tell ICE and Donald Trump: New York ain't no place to play with. We will protect our neighbors.

Mississippi police shot and killed Kohen Wiley because they suspected his mom stole diapers. And the AG there said it was "Justified." We don’t have to look to Mississippi to see unjustified state violence. In New York, there's been no justice for Delrawn Small—and many others.

In 2016, Officer Wayne Isaacs shot and killed Delrawn Small. In the decade since, he's lied and distorted his story, to argue that the murder he committed was…justified. They say it's justified, but there’s no justice. The CCRB trial must move forward without further delay.

We're tired of seeing kids who look like us dying, and mothers who look like ours, mourning. Our communities deserve resources to transform public safety. This Crisis Management System expansion will help keep people safe by investing in violence prevention work on the ground.

When it comes to public safety, punishment alone is not effective as prevention. The Crisis Management System works because it empowers organizations with boots on the ground, who understand the needs of communities, like Bushwick, Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood.

The Trump administration is doing everything it can to undermine the right of disabled people to live, work, and be educated in the community. This year, Disabled Women's Equal Pay Day, and Disability Rights and Employment Awareness Month, inspire us to fight harder than ever.

New Yorkers, we may feel powerless. But a great deal is in our hands. We're all we need to leave a better future for our children. We must use every tool we have, from voting early to protesting, mutual aid to economic boycotts, to fight against would-be MAGA monarchs. #NoKings

The Trump administration claimed being a sanctuary city was unconstitutional—as if they care about the Constitution. This is a win for our communities. When we use every tool we have, in the courts and in the streets, we stem the tide of racist fascism.

ICE is not welcome in New York City; that includes keeping them from lurking in garages and parking lots. We joined @mayor.nyc.gov and a united coalition of elected officials to urge private garage and parking lot owners to act in accordance with NYC values. More:

gothamist.comMamdani and 100+ NY officials urge parking lot owners to ban ICEThe officials released a letter on Friday that asks the owners of parking lots and garages not to rent, lend or otherwise make their property available to ICE.

ICE used a Target parking lot as a staging ground to target immigrant New Yorkers and shoot a man in the Bronx. In the past, Target ended DEI, hid LGBTQ Pride items, and banned the SALVATION ARMY. Now they say there’s nothing they can do? Well there’s plenty we consumers can.

Schools should be filled with learning and laughter, not gunshots. Every day in this country, policy makers beholden to the gun lobby take the slaughter of children for granted—and a child can get his hand on a gun. We stand with Bend, Oregon and all communities harmed by gun violence.

We stood with Win Rozario's family last week to demand a shred of accountability—instead of the "human error" enabling Alongi to retire before his trial. The mayor's office has now offered some changes. It's the culture that needs changing, to prevent another family grieving.

Happy Spirit Day, New York City. This day is a message of support for LGBTQ+ youth. In the face of discrimination, bullying, restrictive legislation, and medical establishments bowing to hate and ignorance, we choose acceptance, joy, and love. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This is us heading into work to support survivors. Today our team uplifted Go Purple Day in honor of domestic violence survivors. We believe in a world free from domestic and intimate-partner violence, where all impacted New Yorkers have the support and resources to thrive.

Trump was in Syracuse spreading hate, but the real New York is New Yorkers coming together—for a state where all children have the right to learn and be carefree, like Amani was at the State Fair. And for all the other Girl Dads out there, happy International Day of the Girl.

We stood with Marble Hill last night, and New Yorkers will stand up for our neighbors in every borough, in every community across the city. Keep going, until our children, and our children's children, live in a better city and a better country. Trump's ICE will not win.

Beloved son and brother Jihad Pack, 15, was working on his dreams at his local community center, when he was callously shot and killed. We mourn with his friends and his family, and the community that deserves resources and real solutions to gun violence.

A judge gave ICE a deadline to make its enforcement lawful in 3 weeks. Respect to the judicial process, but anyone in Marble Hill last night knows that's a delusion. Trump's rogue agency lies—over and over—to hide their unlawful, dangerous incompetence.

As so many places choose to ignore or suppress history rather than teach it, it’s vital New York City grapple with our past, acknowledging the pain of enslaved people and the role slavery played in New York’s economy. The Triumph of the Human Spirit ensures we never forget.

Trump sees the American dream as pay-to-play. This exorbitant fee will prevent international students from gaining valuable work experience and contributing their expertise to our economy, in turn limiting growth and innovation. Nativism hurts all of us.

This Dyslexia Awareness Day, we uplift the advocacy to dismantle barriers and ensure New Yorkers with dyslexia receive the support needed to thrive. This advocacy inspired the Public Advocate's law requiring screenings for incarcerated individuals in city jails, supporting reentry.
