Pollster: Rapidly pushing the make-everything-worse button is proving unpopular among the electorate. Voters want to maintain an agonizing status quo where all things gradually degrade on their own from natural entropy

A lot of people (accurately) point out that premium video games are cheaper today than they were 30 years ago thanks to inflation, but discussed less often is how much bigger the margins are for game companies now that sales are 80-90% (soon to be 100%) digital. No more retail or packaging costs!

As the director of a historical video game preservation institution, and someone who has dedicated his entire adult life to this cause, this is accurate. We have attempted to work with the industry's trade organization to find a legal path forward, but they refuse to offer a meaningful alternative.

piracy is the only extant form of media preservation that exists in games right now, you might find it morally reprehensible but there is literally no other institution that will keep games alive in 25, 50 years' time

Ultimately the Lincoln Reflecting Pool isnโ€™t that important. What we really should be talking about is whether Captain Janeway is morally justified in reversing the transporter accident that combined Neelix and Tuvok into one person. Yes, she would be saving two lives. But it would murder Tuvix

It really cannot be overstated that COVID happened, suddenly a bunch of absentee tech dads were forced to stay home where they saw their kids playing Animal Crossing while talking on Discord, then collectively decided to light a trillion dollars on fire to make Snow Crash IRL.

Today some students in my "Intro to C++" class, game dev enthusiasts, asked for advice improving their C++ skills sharp over the summer, by work in Godot or maybe a Half-Life 2 mod(?!) I did some Godot dev, but it was all in GDScript and I never got into C++ dev in it. Anyone have advice for them?

RIP Graham Greene. I knew him from The Red Green Show, where he played Edgar K.G. Montrose. They'd often insert sly references to Graham's Oscar-winning work on Dances With Wolves, and to his appearances on "Bonanza." And it was a great surprise to see his face show up on TV again in The Last Of Us.

We lost one of the greats. Graham Greene was not only an actor but a trail blazer. He opened doors for so many of us Natives. I'm proud to say that the very first pilot I ever acted in was with Graham Greene. The pilot was never picked up but I get to say that I got to work with one of the greats.

You are up to date.
