The number of connection address and protocol combinations keeps growing, and every browser behaves differently. With Happy Eyeballs v3 browsers will fall back to a working option faster and more safely. This session will show what its performance impact looks like.

Sometimes custom solutions that we build highlight deeper challenges with performance and usability, and reveal an opportunity to grow the webโs native capabilities. How doe you move from patterns that work on one website to features that are built into our browsers?

With 2 years of rollouts, we've learned a lot about compression dictionaries and the Web. Patrick will cover what works, where the footguns are, how to maximize their effectiveness, and other experiments around compressing content on the web.

In this deep-dive session, Tim will use real-world data and performance metrics to show how scalemates.com became the fastest and largest scale modelling website in the world. Youโll leave with practical, actionable insights to push performance even further.

๐งช We've expanded Core Web Vitals to include support for soft navigation (SPA)!
Since SPAs are handled differently in implementation, they have required bespoke custom measurement, making it hard to compare directly across sites. Measuring performance is a little art, a little science. 1/2
Chrome 155 adds support for JPEG XL (.jxl) โ goo.gle/4yYpSjW
Expect 30-50% smaller file sizes than traditional JPEGs, native HDR, progressive rendering, and lossless JPEG transcoding.
Under the hood, Chrome uses jxl-rs, a pure Rust decoder built for maximum memory safety and performance.
During last week's @nywebperf.com Meet4Speed session, we analyzed the performance of an eCommerce website and found a very peculiar font bug that resulted in 3 formats of the same font being loaded. paulcalvano.com/2026-10-18-i...
Dear friends, please watch this and make sure to not only NOT behave like men described in this talk (I wish we didnโt need to mention that) but also to develop the brain muscle to stand up to such behavior and not be succumbed to the bro culture or whatever drives this behavior - be good people.
I gave a talk at EMF titled "Men in Tech #YesAllMen", in which I told my experience of being a woman in tech. I was afraid to publish it in case it affected my current or future employment.
With all the current news I would like to add my 2ยข. So here is the recording: youtu.be/WXL6K1lhvt0?...
Iโve built something like that awhile ago and then tried to build a MENACE learning machine that played tic-tac-toe: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matchbo...
Synthetic perf testing was valuable for low-noise dev testing and regression detection but lost favor as RUM metrics improved.
With AI, accurate, representative, low-noise lab testing is THE unlock to being able to have an agent hill-climb on perf improvements.
Getting web performance prioritized is the hard part.
I will talk about this topic on @perfnow.nl.
How do you make the case for web performance?

At todayโs @nywebperf.comโs Meet4SPEED today, @paulcalvano.bsky.social shared an issue he discovered one the site that one of the members brought in that neither he nor I ever seen before! Looking forward to his blog post as some nerd sniping was quite evident ;)
Designers see performance as a constraint, or as a checklist item: โdonโt forget the spinner.โ What if we saw it as a design opportunity instead? This talk explores what developers should expect from their designers and how to ask for it.

I'm super excited to announce that today we've added experimental versions of Core Web Vitals metrics including soft navigations to the Chrome User Experience Report!
You can see them in BigQuery, the APIs, and CrUX Vis. Check it out!
