nix hot take: there should have never been modules for configuring applications. its a super big maintainer burden for not a lot of benefits. also it makes configuring apps more complicated due to an additional layer of abstraction

I'm enjoying AI and find it useful, but the one thing that bugs me is that every! single! conversation! in my life is now about AI. Business calls? AI. Meeting friends? AI. Waking up in the middle of the night in a city I don't recognize, lying in a pool of my own vomit next to a dead goat? AI

We've been steadily progressing with the UI rework and the preparations for the spaces launch! Here's a quick snapshot of some work-in-progress screens for y'all to enjoy 🔧

i will be so happy when i finish my bachelorthesis because then i can finally do things that actually matter. like playing dressmaker

scientific research can be so fun but only if i forget how few days i have left to finish this🫪m

i have to be the king of self sabotage why did i procrastinate this as much if its fun?

everytime i take a peek into a tscoding stream i get reminded that i would hate working with this guy how can you be this negative all the time

why the hell does ted lasso have 7 min of outro/credits o: jellyfin doesnt want to mark as finished that early grrrr

one day i will die because i have o2 as my provider and it always gives me emergency alerts 2 minutes later than everybody else

wait so jellyfin is getting better book and audiobook support? if this works out well im down to ditch audiobookshelf

after using nixos for a couple years now im not convinced that nix modules are the correct solution for infra deployment. why are we throwing out all of the work done by upstream maintainers on e.g. docker compose? why are we not using containers in general?

The conclusion im arriving at is that i will probably: - Use nix for packaging (what its best at) - Use nixos for the base - Setup k3s using nixos - In cases where i dont want the complexity of Kubernetes use docker compose from upstream

Regarding the complexity of Kubernetes: This is also widely overstated on every social platform. If you have a little knowledge and are careful to not pull in too many dependencies Kubernetes can be pretty simple and make your life super easy

Idk if this is the actual best way to go but i guess well see after i tested this for a bit

if you care about high availability deployments you basically have to reinvent everything. Id rather build on a existing orchestrator.

switching back to zen browser because i miss: - workspaces - popup url bar hope it doesnt slow down that much this time 🤞

i also rediscovered boosts which are great. its just sad that you cannot apply them globally afaik

i have to move of the bsky pds man the email needed for verification arrives like 20% of the time i want to login somewhere new

i have been a yaml engineer for too long since when did coding get difficult for me 🫠🫪

this could mean 3 different things: 1. using emacs 2. only eating instant ramen 3. transitioning really fast

ai models are fun and you can *feel* fast while relying on them but using them more sparingly has drastically improved my understanding, productivity and fun working on topics its just so easy to fall into the cycle of prompting, not doing anything and prompting again

how can anyone actually do presentations in powerpoint or write papers in word??? just use typst (or latex if your oldschool)

#oss is inherently social due to being a space where people collaborate therefore it is futile to attempt to have a "non political" project because in interpersonal relationsships politics will always be something noticable

how the fuck did i not find them earlier???? this topic is way more researched than i assumed - though i thought it was weird that there were this few papers about it

so does anyone have some tech content creators which dont sympathise with DHH? because once in a while i did enjoy watching some primeagen, just not anymore i need recommendations

today i heard a woman listening loudly to ai generated music in her car... there is no way people actually like that stuff. how do you not get annoyed by the obvious signs of ai generation?
