First #GoogleIO as a Googler this year (watching remotely from the Google office). Feels weird. I went to my first GoogleIO in 2012 at the Moscone Center with my colleagues at #Shazam and was lucky enough to go in person 6 times overall 🙏

The mothership has finally called 🎉 . Today I've joined Google as a Staff Tech Lead for Health & Fitness tracking experience

Hey, if it's now OK to carry out covert operations in another country to remove leaders we don't like, I may have a suggestion for the next target

Just when you thought airlines couldn't get any worse, Easyjet flew us halfway to Greece before turning us back to our origin airport 'due to paperwork' 🤦

It's unbelievable that as a society we have allowed airlines to get away with legally overbooking flights. It's the only industry that can legally take your money while they know they can't supply you with the services you're buying.

Labour today joins a long list of consecutive governments that decided they need to pander to the most extreme rightwing elements of our country, failing to remember that apart from being cruel, the pandering never worked for the previous governments and it won't work for them.

NEW: Today in Instanbul, Turkey. A people fighting for democracy & against authoritarianism. This is how you do it! Chairman of Republican People’s Party, Özgür Özel: “Today, 2.2 million of our citizens overflowed Maltepe Square. This is just the beginning. This nation will not remain silent.” 🇹🇷

Fun fact: If someone quotes a post of yours in a way that is unwelcome (as is commonplace on Twitter/X) there is a tool to combat the unwanted attention. Simply click the three dot menu on the quote post & click "Detach quote". This removes your post from their quote post. Useful to know, do share!

Incredibly helpful

Seriously! This place is even better than Twitter. I found this feed to follow updates about the coup in South Korea, Twitter just didn’t have anything like this:

One the great tragedies of the (hopefully) eventual demise of Twitter, is that we would forever lose access to the inaugural tweet of Ed Balls day

@mrjamesob.bsky.social try this if you don't want to lose your Twitter history: bsky.app/profile/savv...

If you were lucky enough to think of archiving your old tweets before jumping ship, try this tool to import them here on Bluesky: github.com/ianklatzco/t... Little rough around the edges but it works

I've argued many times that with the rise of LLMs, our job will eventually become writing and maintaining tests does while the machine will generate the code to satisfy our requirements And I'm fine with that tbh

How long until LLMs replace high-level code with natural language? There will be no reason to generate human-readable code 🤔
