AI destroys our lives. But it's great at one thing: classification. My new project is called Kount — and it's a complete accounting solution that sorts your invoices automatically, so self-employed people in Austria deal with way less bureaucracy. 🧵 ⬇️ kount.at

Kount is going to be officially launched later this week — now it’s a soft launch for a small audience. But it’s already fully functional and free to try. Help me spread the word by retweeting and sharing what you think of it! >> kount.at <<

Started with monitoring legal changes in Austria. Ended up building a whole accounting companion for Austrian Einzelunternehmer:innen — AI-parsed invoices, deterministic VAT, reports that build themselves. kount.at — join the waitlist, launching next week 👀
Austria publishes ~40 new federal laws / month, all in dense legal German. Half of those laws change what's important for you, and nobody tells you what. My new project is called 🇦🇹 Legal Changes, and it gives you plan-text summaries in 5 languages. legal-changes.at
Finished setting up my 3-2-1 backup strategy after getting a new NAS: - Time Machine backs up to the NAS with encryption enabled, so multiple users at home can safely use it. - The NAS automatically backs up to Backblaze B2 using Restic (github.com/restic/restic). Pros, cons, pitfalls?
A conclusion after 2 days: it's an *incredible* device. Quiet, fast & inexpensive. This is what I've self-hosted so far: - Jellyfin for media - Immich for photos (to not pay for Ente cloud + iCloud) - Time Machine backups (to not pay for Backblaze) More to come! www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkXZ...
In the last days of 2025 I was trying to pick the right NAS for the new apartment and ended up going with the four-bay UGREEN DXP4800. It finally arrived today! Let's see if it's gonna replace Backblaze, iCloud, and all the other services I don't want to pay for anymore.

Happy to share that my PhD project is finally published!🪱✨ Selfish genes are found across the tree of life. They can disrupt inheritance patterns and at the same time act as units for molecular innovation. Here we tried to answer one big question: how do selfish genes emerge in the first place?

That era is over — all of the Austrian government's main digital services are now available on a single website (oesterreich.gv.at) and have been translated into English. You can register at the new address, reissue documents, and sort out everything related to your e-card and pension.
One of my all-time favorite software products has finally introduced a full-featured desktop app. Just give it a try — IMO @fastmail.com is really the golden standard of software, and I'm happy for supporting them since 2019. www.fastmail.com/blog/desktop...
Not many of you know, but I have an app and a website for finding specialty coffees in the beautiful city of Vienna. I recently added filters there (and it's not about coffee) and made an experimental list with bakeries 🧁 viennaprepacked.com
One thing I want to admit is that I *hate* AI and what it's becoming. Another big thing that brings us one step closer to a dystopian future full of misery and lies being presented as something good and cool. www.404media.co/hollywood-si...

Couple years ago @alwxx.bsky.social told me… well you can read the story at twiceaday.club/about What you HAVE to know is that public clocks are glorious, but often neglected, so, Twice a Day Is it a silly pun gone too far, a tiny database, or a whimsical lil' project? Yes

🔴 infothek.bmk.gv.at/2024-waermst...
I tried Emacs, Vim, Sublime and even VSCode for quite a long time, but the truth is that nobody has invented anything better than IntelliJ IDEA (and its derivatives). Today I finally gave up and renewed my license, paying 101 EUR (+VAT) for Ultimate. Hats off to @jetbrains.com.
You are up to date.
