Today is Intersex Awareness Day. I am intersex – and did not find out until I was 26! Intersex people are also impacted by the decision in FWS, but this is much less talked about. Intersex people continue to be subjected to non-consensual medical interventions. Intersex rights are human rights.

Time to roll a dice on the NHS today, so far I've generally had well meaning if a bit naive people treat me, but its still a bit scary.

time and money will go into enforcing, fighting, and litigating these bans that could instead go towards programs that stop actual abuse. and this is because people interested in banning porn do not actually do so out of a desire to help victims. they do so out of a desire to punish those they hate.

if ppl actually gave a fuck about real incest theyd put money and resources into support systems for victims to speak up (victims usually dont speak up bc they will lose their support system) but ig thatd require too much caring and help for other ppl and not enough emotionally satisfying punishment

ppl are more concerned about having their disgust validated than they are about discussing and combating the erosion of your right to privacy that porn bans are actually about. that is how absurd legislation like "2-5 yrs prison for incest roleplay porn" gets passed.

This doesn't mean mens rooms are "safer" just that which one feels safer isn't as simple as mens = scary womens = safe. Being misperceived as a threat to women can make things extremely scary.

If you're perceived as a man entering the women's bathroom you're often viewed as a threat - which can mean responding with hostility. In the men's bathroom the norm is to avert your gaze from everyone. Before I passed, the worst I got were very subtle double takes before studious gaze avoidance.

I haven't swapped over because of everything going on atm, but each time I go in the men's now I get stared at, but I still don't pass 100% Kinda worried that eventually I won't be able to safely use either.
