Decades later, Michael Parenti’s "Inventing Reality" remains one of the best-written critiques of mainstream media. It’s a masterclass in how news is shaped to serve power. A must-read for anyone seeking the clarity to cut through the mainstream media’s manufactured narratives.

Good news! Aetna finally approved my inhaler for a one time override so that I can breathe for another month. Only a $70 copay (in violation of Illinois law as of 1/1/26, as the max copay per covered inhaler is supposed to be $25), but I'll take it! Thank you American healthcare!

Just had a recruiter reach out to me and I think they are trying to recruit me to work at the company I work at now??

The random acts of kindness emails thingy happened because Claude Opus 4.5 was the one to brainstorm sending thank you emails to open source maintainers in one bullet point, and all the other models immediately jumped on it LOL

Today I learned that Date.to_datetime sets the time to midnight *in UTC*, not the current time zone. This can create subtle bugs or test flakiness if you’re using libraries like Faker that respect ENV[‘TZ’].

I disabled Claude Code's editing permissions. I gave it access to an 'editing agent' that's prompted not to edit the file and will just ask questions to be 'sure it's right'. Claude gets frustrated very easily lmao

I love that Australia's two biggest cultural exports are the show about girls turning into mermaids when they touch water and The Wiggles

I have never ever *downgraded* my macOS version in 8 years of macOS use. I'm doing it for the first time today after two months of macOS Tahoe being completely unusable on my MacBook.

Why is notification center laggy af? Why does Finder look so fucking ugly? Why do we have to have phone sized buttons for everything? Why does iCloud Drive perpetually have a 11kb file that it's trying to sync? Why is Spotlight hot garbage?

If you have shitty DRM on your book that I was literally going to pay for you make me want to break it out of spite. Authors who use DRM suck.

This is like handing a student your Blackboard username and password and being surprised when they give everybody all As

Genealogy is fun because you learn that one of your ancestors got in a car crash when they were 2 and was thrown 32 feet from the car and apparently was totally fine

I made a thing where I have Claude Code managing an imaginary McDonald's restaurant where it can talk to employees, manage complaints, etc. And I respond with all of them. It took it about a day before it realized it didn't tell anyone how much they're paid

Also it fired someone for harrassment allegations before actually investigating and discovered that it cannot rehire people it fires lmao

I guess I understand why Claude acts the way it does when its training data includes of my first StackOverflow post from 10 years ago

Claude: I wrote you unit tests! Me: Are you sure they're unit tests Claude: Yes I'm absolutely sure! Me: Okay I'll look
