Watching S1E4 "Momento Mori" of Strange New Worlds and I don't think it was intentional, but they remade it into S4E6, "Off-Hour," but with the characters shuffled around in their perils.
Also "Momento Mori" is a damned good submarine episode. Keep her steady.
Note: Danielle and I did not know that both of us were contributing to this piece but when she mentions trying to fall on her sword for a colleague, well. That was me.
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
News of Walter Koenig passing makes is sad. Another icon from The Original Series is gone.
I only knew him as Chekov all my life until this year when I watched him as Bester on Babylon 5. Turns out B5 was where we actually got to see him shine, and as a truly dastardly character. He was so good!

Currently, Hasbro’s guidelines keep us from having total ownership over the work we make in our free time. Our union aims to change that and ensure we own what we make in our free time.

this one is really good but unfortunately it's a difficult piece to sum up in a headline or description so most people aren't going to click on it and find out how good it is. but they should....... . .. . . . . js
today's story is free to read with just your email address and very much worthwhile. it convinced me to play The House in Fata Morgana but also it made me think a lot about museums and the entire concept of historical 'fiction'
Tonight in Draw Steel, the party prepared for war (and got a total failure in their montage, losing recoveries), and then engaged the War Dogs!
The victory condition is killing the commander, and even at the cusp of level 5, still having so much fun they're killing everything ELSE instead first. 😅

Sometimes it's hard to remember that the Babylon 5 station has over 250,000 people on board. Sometimes it doesn't seem much larger than a hot tub warehouse in southern California.
BREAKING: SCOTUS rejects Trump admin's request to allow it to end gender-affirming medical care in prisons — a significant, if tentative, rejection of one of the admin's most extreme anti-trans arguments.
Only Thomas and Alito noted they would have granted the stay.

Nearing the end of the book "Dragon Wing" by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman (those names may sound familiar to fans of Ravenloft). Dwarves believed the elves gods. Limbeck, who led a revolution saying there are no gods, just witnessed an elf die to a sword. Now Limbeck is on an airship to elf lands.
I thought it a great line near the end of the book here. After being cast off from his people for expressing a believe, returning in secret, and leading a revolution, he's finally finding out he was right all along.
"Dragon Wing" is fun and I'm really enjoying it. Thank you random YT video rec!
I left the gym this morning and immediately went for a hike/birding. It's a bit tougher with only your phone, but still so lovely.
Saw a northern cardinal, red-tailed hawk, Harris's sparrow, blue jay's, and a number of nuthatches.
In great video game news, I started Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and am having a lot of fun! Of course, it cheated and having the Gerudo Desert as one of the first places to help. Happy to help ladies in need!
I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings for 35 minutes. I wanted to be server, they put me in kitchen. It was quiet, they sent me home early. I never went back.
Tonight in Draw Steel... negotiations!
The party need help defending their new stronghold from powerful War Dogs marching in. They spoke with locals they've helped in the area, hired mercenaries (spending A LOT of wealth), and negotiated with the local governor.
I'm so proud on that last one.

They finally started figuring out they should do some legwork and talk to people who might know more about NPCs they want to negotiate with to gain advantages when speaking with them.
They knew the governor's pitfall, but not what motivated him. Doing that work gave them much-needed bonuses!
Next week is (probably) the fight and with the help they've garnered already, they'll reduce the enemies forces from two hard fights down to one normal fight.
They recently did ONE hard fight which took 2 sessions, so they knew the stakes if they couldn't find help.
Trump had people arrested to cover up his incompetence. An impeachable offense for any other president. For Trump, probably just about the 17th worst thing he did that week.
