So, wait, has NaNoWriMo rebranded as "Novel November", paid for by ProWritingAid, which used to be a spell/grammar checker but now is (you guessed it) an "'AI' grammar checker"--in short, yet another way for a griftslop machine to grab human-written text? Do I have that right?

Pissing sideways rain today (thanks, Fraser valley outflow), which is not great for the fence work that needs doing before winter. So I'm taking it as Mother Nature wanting me to cook up some new writing submissions in the studio, so off I go. #WritingWitch

This is why when we were cruising i preferred the helm. Ya got something important to hang on to and focus on. And you can check the weather forecast and the Marine forecast and compare them and do all the things and you can still run into rough seas.

Tell me how long before you give up on something? Are you quick to shift and say, 'This isn't working, I'm outta here.' Or do you hold on until your fingers bleed?

My family left Quebec and the Maritimes after WWI. Working in cities like Boston, Detroit/Windsor, Sarnia/Port Huron, and crossing the border back and forth for years. It's extremely interesting to me that the family I created ended up strataling this border again but now in BC/WA. #ancestry

As a long time supporter of the USPS I hate to have to harp on this -- PUT YOUR BALLOTS IN A BALLOT BOX. NOT THE MAIL. There is no chain of custody process for USPS between mailbox and processing station, whereas WA law requires a documented chain of custody for ballots collected from drop boxes.

Many conversations about identity and ancestry, given the astro weather, I'm unsurprised at the theme. My thoughts & feelings on these conversations revolve around connecting to the ancestral identities of the past. When those paths are dozens, which one do you choose? I sense a blog post coming.

Friends, if the websites of the creators & small businesses you support are down, hang when loading -- give it a few and come back. We're all getting hammered out here with the new security vulnerabilities landscape. My site was down; then back up, and is currently down again. HELLO MERCURY RX.

Creative Crone@runatroy.bsky.social

I spent the better part of yesterday securing my own site. I'd really like to spend that time creating, instead of mitigating for site vulnerabilities. Hope y'all keep yourselves (& sites) safe.

Reading this even knowing that MTN is a progressive opinion and advocacy network rather than journalism, I am highly aggravated for our troops and their families. "Some of us don't care if we live or die anymore." The shit has hit the fan, friends.

“It’s so much worse than people realize… we are sitting ducks…” Service members and military families share accounts/photos/videos of being attacked in Trump’s pointless war, as leadership fails them, and hides the truth. (From @MeidasTouch) meidasnews.com/news/so-much...

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

New SEC filings show that Mark Zuckerberg is preparing to pay California’s billionaire tax without losing control of Meta. So billionaires can afford to pay the tax? And they won't lose control of their companies or flee the state? Don’t fall for billionaires’ propaganda. Vote YES on Prop 40.

For those who don't have a Witch in your life, a quick FYI: we're all not Wiccan. You can be a Wiccan Witch. But other witches don't follow Wicca. Wiccan is a specific belief system, while witchcraft is a practice. There can be overlap, but witch doesn't automatically mean Wiccan. #WitchSky

After three years of fighting to get someone to listen to me, I finally got prescribed proper menopausal hormone therapy last month. This month, no local pharmacies have my patch. Fuck the FDA. The Great Estrogen Shortage of 2026 deborahcopaken.substack.com/p/the-great-...

deborahcopaken.substack.comThe Great Estrogen Shortage of 2026In a capitalist society with no shortages of Viagra, the U.S estrogen shortage--both patches and gels--is both shameful and absurd. Here’s one thing you can do, on World Menopause Day, to fight back.

I discovered this just this morning when we were mapping routes for family care. It's so illuminating. Given that the local PD here is now answering 911 calls with a drone first ...blargh. #resist #surveillancestate
