There are far too many takes on #YouCanSeeEverything already, but I’m going to add my own, because I can’t resist. As with most of these, spoilers on! Do not read without having seen the movie first.

New: We found cops who kept using Flock to spy on women after they left the force. One used it for five years after retirement, tracking his wife during a custody battle. Another ran searches while he was suspended (and later fired) after killing a 15-year-old boy. Free to read: wapo.st/3UEwWU7

I’ve been thinking about the America I’m proud of and that I want to celebrate tomorrow, and it’s things like hip-hop and blue jeans and sending a man to the moon and this.

If someone from the FBI visits you about your algae posts the correct thing to do is to say you won’t talk with them. Please do not talk to the FBI. Like, at all. They have no sense of humor and they will take your stupid joke and charge you with lying to an agent.

It feels like it's still winter, doesn't it? To trees, it is not. Tree dormancy is not caused by weather but by internal chemical signals which protect trees from cold. Now, most trees are ready to grow as soon as it warms a bit. This photo shows the tremendous flow of sap. Read more at Our Trees.

Progressive messaging about homelessness should always at least mention the most important root cause—housing cost! Failing to do so is such a missed layup on leading the public toward durable and popular solutions.

Security theater undermining activism is a real thing that happens all the time. People need to sit down and actually learn how to think through threat models.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights. There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us. This is my favorite guide.

I think some posters on here missed that "getting punched in the face, repeatedly, by goon security services and not directly punching back" has been a core tenet of just about every successful nonviolent resistance movement in history

Convinced this cover exists just to ragebait chess players. I get the basic visual metaphor. But why nine pawns? Why is the board rotated 90°? Why is the king moving into check?!

One of the few things the Abundance people are straightforwardly right about is that progressives need to stand up for their values and demonstrate their worth. Wilson should be *extremely* aggressive in making the city better. Win the next election on outcomes, not process.

ICE is now changing tactics and arresting people who have been granted asylum hearings.   This is both a violation of US & international law that demands immediate attention from all New York elected officials & underscores the urgent need for legal service providers to be at all of these cases.
