Harry Kane winning the Ballon D'or is the icing on the cake. I love music, I love art, I love literature, but more than anything I love football. And the idea that a kid like me from the same area would go on to define what English football is to a world stage makes him my hero. A gentleman too.
Spurs won, Chelsea lose, united lose and to top it all off, KAA Gent thrash Anderlecht. Great weekend of football

Great day at the Hackney Indie Press Fair on Saturday! Thank you to Damien @indienovella.bsky.social for organising and to Will at @indiepressnetwork.bsky.social. And thanks also to Selin Tamtekin for reading some new work as part of Scratch Readings, hosted by Tom at @scratchbooks.bsky.social.

The best non-album track is this one. A quasi-version of what The Modern Lovers would sound like if they were formed in the corner of an acid folk festival. A vision born only to disintegrate, as it does repeatedly. mptlmicroplastics.bandcamp.com/track/govern...
I finally read this today. This is a eulogy read out through bibliography. A really precise and strange reckoning with the life of the poet after his death. Something almost religious to the collection of relics. Something capitalistic over the sale of them. Beautiful piece.
‘J.H. Prynne’s first book was put out by stolid publishers, Routledge and Kegan Paul, in 1962. An uneasy beginning, as he glossed in a letter to Charles Olson: the book was, he said, “96 per cent of no interest to me”.’ Iain Sinclair remembers the poet. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
It made it. What a goddamn beautiful thing to a writing hero. @swanriverpress.bsky.social @vexcavator.bsky.social

Wrote about the 20th anniversary of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, a no-shit classic rock opus in a weird time for those, and why I couldn't quite see it for what it was at the time.

I'm not sure if you need to like or know HMLTD to find something worthwhile in this. It's a reckoning of mine to carve out a syzygy of capitalism, schizophrenia, and vampirism as the gravitational pulls in the emerging hypermind. & why love is buried nearby. urblindspot.substack.com/p/hmltd-fang...

Finally!
As much a meditation on the modernist movement, in particular artist David Jones, as a look at one of the most original records in recent years. My review of MPTL Microplastics 'Sod in Heaven' finds a deep, disturbing and poetic excavation of the chemical age. open.substack.com/pub/urblinds...

I will say it until the end of my days. While not perfect, Ghent is a paradise of energy and ideas that are actually worth it. My mate did the opening for this, everything is so tangible here. www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...

"After John Cage has done four and a half minutes of silence, the task of the avant-garde is not to then do five minutes of silence. That’s kitsch." Going to be thinking about @return2sanders.bsky.social's interview with Tom McCarthy whenever anyone talks about experimental literature:

Descent continues. What a weirdly rich corner of the written word
I'm reading my battered copy of Ccru's writings again for something. I, as a rule, detest most of what Ccru became after Sadie Plants exit (Ones & Zeroes was the high-point of this particular type of written investigation), but man some of it is eerie in its accuracy. You can't dismiss that.
