Robb Sutherland

Preach.

It has been a really good last session of the Liturgical Commission. Much to reflect on after five years. But also much to look towards for the next Liturgical Comission. Those of us who are carrying on need to bring with us the ethos that has developed. We are not just colleagues, we are friends.

People in the diocese have put their confidence in me once more and reelected me to General Synod. I will do my best to represent us to the best of my ability. There is much work to do in the coming years.

Yesterday was a game of two halves. Led worship at Diocesan Synod. Wrote a sermon. Played a gig with Silverthorn. Obviously this is setup. Can’t take photos whilst guitaring.

Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your résumé? Priest: I was in prayerful meditation on retreat.

We are celebrating harvest at @holynativity.bsky.social. @jobm.bsky.social just preached about everyday miracles that people in low income, low wealth communities experience in the every day. And the outworking is our social supermarket opening the first Monday after Half Term.

If you can’t tell from my last post, we’re at St Winefride's Chapel and Well.

St Beuno has a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

Had a fantastic morning celebrating a thanksgiving with a family at church for their child.

Tonight we had clergy hustings for General Synod in Leeds Diocese. If you want to know more about what I stand for, I did a video. youtu.be/pmDl-7NtXdQ?...

T minus 41hrs.

Me yelling “pick a direction!” at a squirrel in the road is probably exactly how God feels watching me make a decision.

Other important paperwork I have filled in this week is the adoption paperwork for these three. Come the weekend, chaos will ensue.

My paperwork for reelection to #GeneralSynod is in and verified. If you are clergy in the Diocese of Leeds I would be eternally grateful if you were able to give me your first choice vote.

We’re watching the latest Mission Impossible as Normandie is enveloped with torrential rain.

One of the things we have finished this week is a new Rock Mass setting for the Eucharist. We’re looking forward to playing it with @metanoiauk.bsky.social next week at rehearsal.

Gite life is going well. Today we finished off three of the songs we’ve been working on. We have also arranged two acoustic versions of rock songs to add to @robbandruth.bsky.social setlist. I need to get us more acoustic gigs for 2027.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, turn our hearts away from using the power we have at our disposal to serve only an agenda of selfishness and ego; give us instead hearts that beat with your love, and seek the wellbeing of neighbours near and far. May we live lives that show your grace.

One of the best gigs I’ve been to recently.

I am writing my paperwork for reelection to #GeneralSynod. It plays into all of my greatest weaknesses: Talking about myself. Highlighting what part I have played in good things that have happened.

Went to Plopsaland. Ride to Happiness is one of the most butt clenching rides I have ever been on. I think it’s the first spinning car coaster I’ve been on with such high intensity loops.

Richard and I were deanery colleagues. Harassing him inside the minster is a new low to stoop to.

Four hours ago I read a post where someone said they have “jewel citizenship”. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight for thinking about this.

I could instantly recognise Peter Cullen as the voice of my childhood in whatever he was doing. Effects? It’s him. Massive sub? It’s him. RIP Venger.

Dunkerque.

Happy Talking.

It’s a bit wild out there. The kids are looking for something with blue food colouring in it to eat on the way back to Mixy. @holynativity.bsky.social Youth Camp is drawing to a close.

Youth camp has been great fun so far!

I am at the Gateway Centre in Ravenscliffe with @jobm.bsky.social learning about their social supermarket. We’re hoping to open at @holynativity.bsky.social in the autumn.

I was invited onto @alexdjfrost.bsky.social podcast to talk about estates, working class vocations and heavy metal. You can check it out on YouTube. www.robbsutherland.com/blog/alexfro...

Just up the hill from here.

I have written some reflections on having lunch at Lambeth palace and the discussion we had about diversifying the Church of England’s leadership. You can read it over on my website. www.robbsutherland.com/blog/archbis...

Here are some reflections from @alexdjfrost.bsky.social following on from last week’s afternoon at Lambeth. I have written my own reflections which I hope to post later. viamedia.news/2026/08/03/e...

Final service at Taizé. Now the long drive back to Yorkshire.

It was wonderful to be invited to lunch and a conversation about how we include working class people and their calling to all levels of ministry in the Church of England. www.leeds.anglican.org/who-we-are/n...

Such good news!
