Trump's America after 6 weeks: First measles death in 10 years, deadliest plane crash in 20 years, consumer confidence & stock market are down, inflation & unemployment are up plus he has alienated western democratic allies from Canada to Europe and made the US a Kremlin aligned country

Everything is bad. Do we still have a CIA??

Matt Burgess (WIRED)@mattburgess1.bsky.social

“A person familiar with the matter… said analysts were verbally informed that they were not to follow or report on Russian threats, even though this had previously been a main focus for the agency. “The person said work that was being done on something “Russia-related” was in effect “nixed””

Elon Musk isn’t a genius—he’s a government-funded grifter under investigation. Every contract, every dollar, every scandal—it all connects. Keep this: It’s a roadmap for every move Musk and DOGE make.

Everyone, call your reps right now. Demand that they start impeachment proceedings against our president for colluding with our enemies, abandoning our allies, and destroying our constitution. I’m not sure what else to do, but I don’t want to be under the thumb of Putin.

rljart@rljart.com

Please, @repdangoldman.bsky.social - impeach our president! He is compromised by Russian, is abandoning our allies, and endangering our country. We support you in taking extreme action to resist the destruction of our democracy!!!

In a meeting, staged by and for the Kremlin, Trump today proved he is truly the useful idiot for Russia that we all suspected. He is breaking America for the benefit of Russia. We are under attack terrorist attack and he and Vance are leading it.

Ukraine has shown the world that the little guy can stand up to the bully and refuse to back down, even when the odds seem overwhelming. Resistance isn’t futile. In the next four years, we must stand just as strong as Ukraine has. All my respect to President Zelenskyy.

Absolutely disgraceful. I will go to my grave NEVER forgiving people who voted for these disgusting, arrogant, Russian assets.

Trump to Zelenskyy: "Your country is in big trouble. You've done a lot of talking. You're not winning this."

Excited to be participating in the #economicblackout today. Easy peasy since i don’t want to buy any of the oligarchs’ trash anyway. I’m also avoiding all meta products… so lucky BlueSky users get my cute kid photos instead!

Following on the overwhelming response to last week's column, I wrote a second dispatch imagining how the Musk takeover would be covered by the US media if it was happening overseas, and they felt comfortable calling a spade a spade.... www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/white-nati...

doomsdayscenario.coWhite Nationalist Forces Consolidate Power Alongside Musk’s JuntaA second update on Elon Musk's coup from our intrepid imaginary foreign correspondent

Go go go!

David Roberts@volts.wtf

New report: "The cost of clean power technologies such as wind, solar & battery technologies are expected to fall further by 2-11% in 2025, breaking last year’s record. ... new wind and solar farms are already undercutting new coal and gas plants on production cost in almost every market globally."

I guess they really are planning to crash the economy. How bad is the stock market going to be on Monday? Someone tell me.

Just Jack@just-jack-1.bsky.social

Lots of stupid in this rant. There is, however, one admission. The pain will be real. It's coming.

Do older Americans know that Elon Musk now controls access to their Social Security and health insurance?

Senator Ron Wyden@wyden.senate.gov

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

I just tried calling and it appears @schumer.senate.gov and Sen Gillibrand’s voicemail boxes are full… but @democrats.org MUST RESIST. And vote NO on all nominees!!!

Dante Atkins@danteatkins.bsky.social

Schumer can just call Thune and say "an unelected Nazi has taken control of the highest level government systems and usurped the role of Congress and until you do something about it we will make life in the Senate hell" and then just do that.

This is bad. What can we do?

Truth. Unfortunately.

Having watched with growing alarm the developments of the last 24 and 36 hours in Washington, I thought I’d take a stab at how the US media would cover this story if it was happening in a foreign country. Here’s that story that should be written this weekend: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-s-jun...

Amplifying this. I feel crazy, but I think things are bad.

Elon Musk staff has been caught installing hard drives inside the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Treasury Department, and the General Services Administration (GSA).

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

Donold is blaming a plane crash that killed 67 people on “DEI” with zero evidence. He is attempting to use racism to deflect from the fact it is HIS fault. He had just removed 100 FAA senior officials. It’s been 11 days and there are 67 bodies in the Potomac in Washington DC because of him.

They’ve got this dumb dumb out there defending concentration camps….

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Pete Hegseth says Gitmo is a place where migrants can be "safety maintained" until they are deported to their "final location"

He is pathetic. He is a 54 year old man who doesn’t know how to do anything. He just wants power to make himself feel better about being a dud.

I think they are going to find, despite our constant complaints, that much of the American public is quite fond of our democracy and federal government also.

Amanda Litman@amandalitman.bsky.social

Got me tearing up first thing in the morning.

Please someone tell me why the Dems don’t vote NO on every single thing??!! Stand together! Hold the line! @schumer.senate.gov

Ezra Levin ❌👑@ezralevin.bsky.social

Some intel: I've talked to journalists and folks on the Hill about this. Last night after OMB's action, some Senate Dems tried to unify the caucus to vote against Duffy. Schumer, among others, opposed it, and it flopped. The current Dem leadership strategy is to use strong language but not do shit.

He could just work with them to do it the lawful way...that he's not doing that means he doesn't have confidence that the GOP leadership will go along with the extremity of his actions"

Medicaid covers 41% of all USA births. Pro life party that constantly screams about "declining birth rates," won't fund universal healthcare, won't fund pre-K, won't fund child tax credit, won't fund school lunches, & now eliminates healthcare needed for 2 of every 5 babies. This will kill people.
