Agreed, except the part where library staff are paid minimum wage to help w/ the homework & resumes, as well as translating documents, computer instruction, and generally serving as teacher/social worker/archivist/administrative assistant/data analyst/babysitter/life coach. That could be improved.

Had a wonderful chat with artist Jen Wojtowicz about "Family + Tree + House," her new installation at Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery in Schenectady. It's an exploration of family, memory and how we relate to deceased loved ones through illustrations and miniatures. It also has adorable ghosts.

“There are people in this area who feel like Albany is far away, and theater is something for other people,” de Long said. “That’s not a financial barrier or challenge, but I think they go together. We’re saying, 'This is for you. This is by us.' This is by our community for our community.”
