Hoping everyone who celebrated had a Merry Christmas. My mum is visiting me in NZ (for the first time!), and we spent the day at the beach whale watching and sun bathing 🥰

New passport has arrived! Not only can I now leave the country, I can come back home without airport staff in Bali needing to make several phone calls to NZ immigration 🙃

Does everyone agency-side just fold in AI/LLM considerations into their SEO audits etc now? Or are these just like whole new products sold to clients?

Results from experiment posting the same link on 4 social media platforms: 1) Threads sent the most traffic per follower, followed by Bluesky and LinkedIn 2) Bluesky = highest engagement Will repeat experiment to better account for Direct traffic/bots + use a more engaging post

This AI arms race is so pervasive atm. Clients are like "this agency says they can do XYZ with AI, why aren't we doing that?". Where XYZ is like a different made-up thing every time. Maybe SEO has been getting too cushty, but it's getting harder to NOT rip people off on new and shiny things.

I wrote a thing about how to translate Brand and Branding into signals that can make them being understood by Google and AI.. it is not a short read, but I am convinced you will find it interesting: www.iloveseo.net/the-role-of-...

Not to mention the longer the query, the harder the keyword research! The shifts in search behaviour has made me re-evaluate how we should be sizing "search markets". Search volumes are feeling less and less accurate.

@randfish.bsky.social just had a thought...for a LONG time I've been watching # of words per query growing over time as an indicator of people moving to AI search (longer queries)...after your research on navigational searches, I'm rethinking this. That research continues to make me rethink things.

I would play the shit out of this game 😩

This is such a great idea! 😍 So many non-SEO books that mention SEO or have SEO implications. I recently read Filterworld, and it has been on my mind from an SEO perspective... Anyone else have any books they would recommend that fall into a similar category?

Hey ya'll! I am thinking about starting up an SEO book club. One book and one meeting per month. I think they will be more business and tech books, than straight SEO books - but TBD. LMK if you are interested in joining and we will figure out the first book and the first meeting time!

I may be a simpleton, but a search function, within wherever it appears, equals an opportunity. Internal or third party. ∴ SEO. Call it what you like pal, it's SEO. We've done this one a few times over the past 20 years

Got way too excited in a client meeting this morning around their team finally going to start working on sitemaps. Literally got told to touch grass 😭😆 (nah, I know they said it with love 🫶)

Seeking Work My biggest client project, is coming to a close. While I have a few audits in the pipeline, this is my single biggest income source and I need to replace it. I am open to audits, consulting, even an in-house job managing SEO or doing audits and related work in an agency.

#SpotifyWrapped is so weird. It's like, "here's your top artist of the year!" - some random band I discovered last week. Also just a good reminder that I keep paying for something I barely use.

So about ten years ago I found a small network of bots on Reddit dedicated to spreading hate. The thing about it is that these weren't even responding to political topics - they were just responding to random keywords with insults and hate. The same bots are now here. You should understand why. 🧵

this is kind of a niche issue but: if you are getting weird and hostile responses that feel a little off, there are some folks on here making accounts that automatically reply to large quantities of posts in a vaguely hostile manner. you can ignore them, and also, it's not personal

Great reminder to think before you post that pic. Doxxing has gotten a whole lot easier, but also what is it that you want companies to be learning about you? Why would this not eventually be used for audience segmentation and marketing?
