I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Imagine criticizing Turek for his (unacceptable) positions on trans issues by mocking his disability. Wild.

Your Scary Ad Here@cooluser354.bsky.social

If Turek won't stand for trans people, can he be counted on to stand for anyone? Why doesn't he walk back his anti-trans garbage instead of rolling over for the GOP talking points?

It's a real problem that so many people anywhere left of center in this country think that the path to victory for them lies in electing Republicans until Democrats do exactly what they tell them to.

It's very funny how no one has talked about the Michigan governor's race in months and now AES is winning by the same margin.

People literally do this all the time, and if both candidates are actually antisemitic "vote for the least bad one" is exactly the right move.

Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Why won’t Dems talk about this?

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social

House Judiciary Democrats have uncovered reports alleging Trump was an "active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of young women in the mid-to-late 1990s."

This kind of stuff can be important for some kids, but staying on top of it all is neither trivial nor a lot of fun for the parents. It's a significant chunk of what I use AI for and I'm not ashamed of that at all.

Every time I get an email saying "Tomorrow is dress like it's the 90s Day" I thank the teacher for allowing me to drive to Walgreens and run down the aisles looking for anything vaguely neon in many daughter's size.

Brazilians beat back fascism by... voting harder? Organized offline and online around an election, using a mix of strategies aimed at both turnout and persuasion. Showed up in large numbers, and despite some very wealthy interests arrayed against them, succeeded? Huh. Pretty neat how that works.

Anthropic cumulative operating loss since inception is only $12 billion and at their current run rate operating margin they will completely recoup that loss by Q1 27 even if revenue is flat. So much for “these companies will never make money” lmao

Because there are 10s of thousands of Democratic electeds in the United States, and you have positioned yourself directly into a media environment that is designed to find every statement a Democrat makes that is even vaguely transphobic as soon as it happens.

turns out that voting is a very good way to kick right wing authoritarians out of power

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

between serbia, brazil, and hopefully november 3, a good reminder: voting works it’s not the end, there’s always work to be done after the vote, but if you want to beat the motherfuckers and keep them out of power: vote your asses off

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

See? There is no secret “defeat fascism once and for all” belief system. You just do the work, every election. Far left, center left, it doesn’t matter. Learn the lesson: Stop pretending you’re special and just fucking vote for Democrats.

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

We don’t know if the early vote will be predictive because all Republicans could just be waiting to vote until Election Day. But what this means in practice is that to win, Trump/GOP will have to have the most successful EDay mobilization operation in modern history— and that it’s completely stealth

As far as our data can tell this is pretty much unambiguously good news for Democrats. Young voters strongly favor the Dems this cycle, including young men allianceforyouthpower.org/wp-content/u...

Urquhart is not just a journalist for but the founder of a transgender news outlet and it really can't be overstated how delusional his post is. Trans people deserve political commentary that has at least a plausible basis in reality.

“Democrats will strenuously oppose efforts to restore things to the Obama-era status quo ante,” I say, presumably after suffering significant head trauma

If you really think someone is going to have to fight Democrats to get them in line on voting rights for Southern Black communities - those communities being some of the only voters Democrats have in parts of the South - you simply do not understand what is happening in American politics.

"Democrats don't want Southern Black communities to be able to vote" is one of the most detached-from-reality statements imaginable

I disagree with this - I think the reason that this hits is that he's not out there all the time.

One of the most effective things Obama could do for the party is let it rip like this all year long. He's so good, but he saves it for rallies a few weeks before elections like it's a severely-limited resource and that's just not how the modern communications environment has evolved.
