Check out our new paper in JCB today all about septins!
In @jcb.org, @maggieutgaard.bsky.social, @myosincity.bsky.social, @pwoakes.bsky.social et al. show that #septins accumulate at the cortex in response to mechanical cues, where they serve to buffer mechanical forces that act on the #nucleus. rupress.org/jcb/article/... #Cytoskeleton #Mechanobiology

From MBoC: How do cells coordinate actin and microtubules? New research shows that CAP-driven actin turnover helps organize microtubules in epithelial cells, supporting trafficking and cell architecture. https://www.molbiolcell.org/doi/10.1091/mbc.E26-07-0321

The first paper of my PostDoc in Christa Schlepers group (@archaea-vienna.bsky.social) on the dynamics of Asgard archaea is now out in Nature! www.nature.com/articles/s41... This was a great team effort and I am looking forward to uncover the complex behavior of these cells further!

Excited to share that our latest story on #microtubule conformation controlling cell #signaling is now out in NCB! We show that microtubule expansion by taxane chemotherapeutics releases microtubule bound GEF-H1 which in turn activates RhoA/ROCK signaling. ✨ www.nature.com/articles/s41...

In a new preprint we provide evidence that biophysical properties of protein condensates can explain the order of events in the endocytic pathway, and that these events are tuned by protein condensate phosphorylation. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Very interesting paper. An old-fashioned concept - sadly now rare in biology - measure stuff accurately, and you can understand how it works... www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Check this interesting work from the amazing @xianglejerry.bsky.social from Lappalainen Lab
Here's my PhD work on the assembly of different focal adhesions-associated #actin filament populations by specific actin polymerases, formin vs. VASP! Check out how we exploited the #mitochondria to address the decade-old problem about formin-tropomyosin! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Inspiration often arrives when we least expect it. For ISTA scientist @reenak.bsky.social, it sparked while she and her colleagues captured actin filaments under the microscope. The result is not only a beautiful art piece but also a glimpse into the cellular architecture that shapes life.

We are very happy to share our latest work exploring the role of newly synthetized integrin-α5 using RUSH. We found that a subset goes to the PM via unconventional secretion! Big thanks to all involved! Read more at doi.org/10.1083/jcb.... @mathildemathieu.bsky.social @martina-lerche.bsky.social

Lerche, Mathieu, @johannaivaska.bsky.social @ivaskalab.bsky.social et al. reveal that newly synthesized #integrins can bypass the Golgi to be actively delivered to specific plasma membrane regions, where they enhance cell protrusion and #adhesion. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

Interested in cell migration yet bored of the canonical translocation modes? 😴 Don’t worry — we @nordenlab.bsky.social with @aiopticalbiolab.bsky.social have multipolar migration back in stock! No need to follow the other cells: extend long protrusions and roam more freely🪼 in the crowded brain.
