The problem with corporate takeovers in the arts is they immediately buy out, fire or squeeze out the people who care about the thing the most. Almost all the great comic book sites got bought out and many of those are gone now, or zombie-run. Which is not as fun as it sounds.

I love Transformers: The Movie and I love this read of it. Something that got in deep and stuck w me all these years is the reconstituting of Megatron & the rest into Glavatron, Cyclonus & Scourge. It wasn't simply a new Identity or alter ego (the Monarch>Blue Morpho in Venture Bros) the old crew...

Is there a consensus on who we all think the main character of this film is? For my money, it's Megatron/Galvatron. He's just about the only one with a proactive presence throughout the movie, instigating events that trigger all the movie's biggest moments and having clear desires to achieve.

Betsy Braddock goes in one end and ninja Pyslocke comes out the other. It's a cool trick, I'm surprised more creators and stories don't deploy it more, especially in serial storytelling where some characters just kind of plateau and there's not a lot of road left to go down. It's also, weirdly

what happens inside the cocoon of a buttefly. It's not that the caterpillar grows wings and flies away, it dissolves into a caterpillar reduction and from that goo it's new form gets resolved. Tranformers Indeed!!

got dissolved into a kind of robot slurry and new beings were created out of them. Megatron into Galvatron there's a case to be made isn't a huge difference but the other ones are nearly new characters altogether. We don't know a lot about how TF are created, maybe this is part of their life cycle

Indeed! There's a case to be made that Unicron is a kind of God and this what Gods frequently do, think of all the monsters in greek myth that start off as some hapless shepherd or what have you some God or other gets mad at, years later Claremont does a similar trick with the Seige Perilous...

You start w an English muffin, a little hummus, i slice those juicy little cocktail tomatoes up, drizzle some olive oil & sprinkle salt. I wanted to start eating something at lunch that didnt have lunchmeat in it

Car pulled up next to mine & on the dashboard was a stuffed Pink Panther doll. Not Beanie Baby sized, this was the size of an actual cat. Why Pink Panther? Dashboard ornaments say something about us: hula dancers, fuzzy dice, miles later and I'm still wondering about it, did he win it at a fair?

Was a huge fan, 0rbit had such a recognizable style - it was all the things I loved in music, slightly ethereal, driven by rhythm, it could be airy & deeply underwater. His whole career felt like an argument for electronic music to be considered with the same respect its analog cousin. What a loss.

Was super bummed when I heard Kavinsky died, he’s one of those guys whose name is its own genre, like Kafka or Lynch, but if Teddy Boy taught us anything its what looks like a dead end is just a turn for the Twilight Zone.
