I think vibecoding is just as bad and hobbyless as generating art or text, actually. Even if we ignore the environmental / land use / security impacts, it's still directly devaluing a human craft. Just hire someone.

If any artist contact you on discord to ask you for commission, reach out to them on a different platform to verify if it's really them. No reputable artist will beg for your money in your dms.

⚠ PSA to artists and clients on #VGen about a Discord scam going around!! ⚠ a scammer is scraping profiles (both artists and clients) to make fake discord accounts impersonating them, then reaching out to people they've worked with in the past who have their discord info publicly visible

I think using genAI to make images, even little insignificant ones, is hobbyless loser behavior. It completely sours my opinion on people forever, even if they have done good stuff in the past. If you think that is an overreaction or "crashing out", you can take your cringe comp screenshot and go.

Evangelion (rebuild movies) These are basically a rehash of the original anime & start off similar but then after the second film stuff just goes off the walls insane. There are things I both like & dislike in regards to changes they made, but I still enjoy these as well as the original series.

Redline This film apparently bankrupted the studio that made it & you can tell... they poured so much love into the animation! This film is PRETTY AS FUCK!! And the English dub is actually surprisingly good, I was only able to find it in English so I'm thankful it wasn't garbage.

Angel's Egg (1985) An experimental animated film with limited color palette that had me both confused & captivated. It's layered with religious tones, but doesn't quite elaborate on what exactly it's trying to give you. It could be interpreted in multiple ways, I feel, but it's lovely

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari German silent film with unique art direction, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a place to watch this but turns out it's on YouTube and pretty accessible! This film inspired Cesare from the Bigtop Burger animated series and partially the SFM movie Emesis Blue

Phantom of the Paradise Put this one off for too long. It's a product of its time & that definitely shows at points, but damn this is a lovely film. The stylistic direction and acting is so much fun at points, especially when we see Beef (I LOVE YOU BEEF!!!!).

GDT's Frankenstein GDT is one of my favorite directors, and I think he did an amazing job with this adaptation. Sure, it isn't perfect and does have some noticeable differences compared to the book, but I still found it an enjoyable experience and Oscar Isaac did a great performance as Victor

Fight Club Would you believe me if I said I never saw this until May of this year LMAO but it's become of my favorite films! Go into it blind if you haven't seen it! You should see it if you haven't already!! God I love this film I think I need to watch it again

Sinners Ryan Coogler really cooked with this one. For those not in the know, this is a pretty dense black culture centered film married to a vampire film. Wonderful cinematography & a story that draws you in, thinking of rewatching this one some time. Genuinely one of the best films I've ever seen.

Not to beat a dead horse but i think people who say the Malfoy trend doesnt give JKR money so who cares need to consider Gacha companies comm artists all the time and theres no link to the game or anything the art itself is a positive promotion

Heck This is the precursor to Skinimarink, and it also is a bit of a slowburn like it. Some people ain't into that, but I think it's pretty effective for those that are. A film that shows what it's possibly like to be in Hell but in a frightening way... I don't like that (said with fear)

Falling Down This got recommended to me by some friends & at first I was apprehensive but I thought "Why not?" and found myself on a roller coaster. It's both a fun & kinda tragic film. Also the MC kills a neo Na//zi, which earns it extra "I EnjoyTM" points.

Savageland Top 3 of the scariest films I have ever seen & I refuse to watch it again, actually made me sick to my stomach. Excellently made fake documentary that handles its subject material quite well & realistically. Would highly recommend to horror enjoyers, it's freakishly uncomfortable

Abruptio While I appreciate the creative choices/risks taken with the production of this move (esp replacing actors w/ hyper realistic puppets), the story is wild & idk how I really feel about it. The ending ties it together very well though, if you're willing to "hear the movie out", so to speak.

Nine Inch Noize I missed the PIB tour that Nine Inch Nails did with Boys Noize so this was the next best thing I got to have. I love every track on this remix album, they're so danceable!

simulator: the first person show (pilot episode) One of the more unique premises for a series I've seen, & and I adore it to pieces. POV you are a guy who has to deal with working in a grocery store and everything goes Bad

Local58 series Binged this whole thing, thought it was interesting. Definitely had some unnerving and anxiety-inducing moments watching these, some of them feel so real at times.

SLUMLORDZ Episode 1: SANDWICH Very cute little indie 3D animation I came across on Youtube that lowkey gives me a little nostalgia for the early 2000s, I'm always happy to find more stuff like this in the sea of ever-growing slop

ERSATZ (pilot episode) One of my favorite animations to have come out this year, the style is gorgeous, the world & character designs especially intrigue me. I'm interested to see where Saint takes this story!

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Season 1) I'm a huge fan of Studio TRIGGER's work, & this is no exception. Gorgeous style & lovely animation as always, & a story that will leave your heart filled with bullet holes & then ripped to pieces. Seriously, go into this one blind, it's worth it

Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 3) I HEART ASS KICKINGS AND DRAMA AND PAIN AND SUFFERING AND- Joking aside, holy shit... how do I even explain my feelings on this season... Other than screaming "END HIM!!!!!" when seeing Maki literally cave in Naota's skull ANYWAY

Curve (shortfilm) Imagine being in this situation, and all you can do is lie there... hoping that you don't slip and fall down into a deep black abyss. Nauseating, frightening to the very core. Fuck this film (affectionate)

Tamon's B-Side (Season 1) I have a soft spot for romcoms and in a way find this one to be one of my favs! It partially delves into how idols in some Asian countries aren't really able to be in relationships w/o ostracization from fans & shows that underneath they are just regular people in the end

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Season 1) Hands down the best fantasy anime I've ever seen, with a neat magic system to boot. Seeing an overpowered elf woman outlive the very people she grew to cherish and realize the preciousness of their lives made me cry, 10/10

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion Not much to say that I haven't already said for the show but it's definitely required viewing if you're gonna watch the show! However there is an infamous scene here (iykyk) so just be warned... But a pretty good ending to the original series overall

Dungeon Meshi (Season 1) Saw this a bit late but it's such a fun show with surprisingly well thought out world building, especially with fantasy monster biology & meal prep. This show makes me want to eat well! Also adore the characters & their dynamics, I can't wait to see more!

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support πŸ’–

I'd be commissioning SO many artists, it would be awesome

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?
