The only thing I can think of is pure tribalism. "I've always voted R and I always will." I know one family like that. The parents vote R without any thought, and the kids follow along. It's impossible to even speak to them about. They instantly get angry. Their sense of self is tied up with it.

People that live in epistemic bubbles. People who identify as R as a religion, who used to listen to Rush Limbaugh, who are surrounded by others who watch FOX, who go to megachurches, who have no idea they are victims of propaganda by media that profit from their deception. It's a massive CULT.
