I have some insight. When I was in my 20s a lot of the white kids were wearing them EVERYWHERE. I got a pair, to see what the fuss was. They mold to your feet and that’s when they feel amazing. 2nd, fashion is kinda going in the other direction where “they” are setting some of the trends.
