Hey! I'm Ralph. I maintain some of the Netherlands' oldest digital brands. Refactoring legacy code is my game. One selector or function at a time. Big 💚 to CSS and web performance enthusiasts out there!

For a web that totally is not using PHP anymore there sure was a crazy amount of comment spam in docker image repositories and people doing late night patches yesterday 😅

@fronteers.bsky.social dark mode last friday was lovely. Such a nice venue, excellent talks and vibes. It was fun talking to old and new aquintainces who still share a passion for the web. Special thanks to the organisers, speakers and everyone attending. Let's do it again next year 💚

Our craft is dying, we will be the last of our kind. And we will be valued for our vast knowledge of something that cannot be understood easily!

Hey, help me spread the word on this, if you’re so inclined. I’m pretty nervous about this one, what with [gesturing in every direction], but I believe in it, and I’m going to see it through.

The #cssday FOMO is real everytime I open bluesky. Life gets in the way sometimes unfortunately 🥲 Everybody there enjoy, its such a great conf and vibe. Hoping to see y'all next year.

Getting a support ticket from somebody who thinks we need to be better at screen readers... Yes, we'll have a call tomorrow and the entire teams invited to listen to you explain it. Help us make your experience better 💚

Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images. The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

Oops. Seems I've expanded the front-end team with 150% where 50% was accounted for... But when the selection is this good you just gotta take them all I guess 🤷‍♂️

A bit of a vulnerable post by me but we need your help to get us through what has been a more difficult period than 2020. It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛 bell.bz/its-been-a-v...

bell.bzIt’s been a very hard year - Andy BellUnlike a lot of places in tech, my company, Set Studio/Piccalilli has no outside funding. Bootstrapped is what the LinkedIn people say, I think. It’s been a hard year this year. A very hard year...

Current status: 23 out of 40 dope new CSS features on the wishlist added to the new refactor (baseline widely available). I'm so happy to finally get the chance and time to go all out it. Please hurry up with anchor positioning, and maybe i get to include it 🤞

Ok.... after 45 minutes of using @polypane.app, I've found four pretty dumb layout bugs. Made some very nice fluid typography changes and get to see the core web vitals impact inline per viewport. And I didn't even get to the stuff I was trying it out for 🤯

Now for some less good news: there will likely be a nationwide train strike on Friday - though it is expected international trains will run. For trips within the country there will be no alternative on offer. #cssday nos.nl/artikel/2569...

We’re trying a rather radical new approach at Piccalilli by doing real world projects — for real clients — in the open. This gives us a context to provide genuine high quality, real world education for free at the point of entry.
