Today -83 Years: Honolulu, HI Pearl Harbor: The Opana Radar Station, still in use today, hosted an SCR-270 radar in 1941. Operating at 106 MHz Here’s a coverage plot for this site.

🛰️ Right now, a Russian satellite is flying in close formation with a Western commercial-ish radar satellite, and makes another close pass in the next ~5 minutes.

China put a SIGINT sat over the Pacific to spy on US test ranges. So the US flew USA 325 across the GEO belt into the same slot and closed to 14 km; close enough to photograph it and catch both ends of its ground link.

In Russia, data on gasoline prices have been classified as secret (Rosstat) is ceasing to publish a bulletin on consumer prices for gasoline and diesel fuel. The relevant changes to the Federal Plan of Statistical Work were made by the Russian government last week. Strikes on logistics continue!

In the corresponding bulletin, Rosstat included data on fuel prices with a breakdown by brands (AI-92/95/98/ZN), regions, and 1,800 gas stations in 280 cities. In essence, access to information that allows tracking fuel inflation has been restricted.

A six-person Ukrainian unit systematically destroyed these radars while simultaneously evading numerous Russian attempts to strike them in retaliation. The operation resulted in a significant breach in the Russian air defense system to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Ust-Luga.

Last night Ukraine struck a major Russian radar site west of Kerch in occupied Crimea. Key systems visible: • Tall 39N6 Kasta 2-2 “Flat Face E” with its radome (low-altitude surveillance) • Dual 55Zh6U Nebo-U “Tall Rack” radars (long-range VHF 3D surveillance) 📍 45.3227612, 36.3607220

The importance of this site for the air defense of Crimea and the Kerch Strait cannot be overstated. These radars form a critical part of Russia’s layered early-warning network detecting low-flying drones, cruise missiles, and aircraft that threaten the peninsula and the vital Kerch logistics routes

Ukraine's SSO disabled a railway bridge in occupied Crimea overnight on June 18 - over the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne. The MiddleStrike Ballista unit hit it. Drones are changing the rules faster than Russia can lay new tracks.

Here’s the air picture in Russia. It appears to be quite busy. For reference, the colors start as red, yellow, or green and gradually fade over time. This is a snapshot that shows a 1-hour window. All data comes from open sources, no AI.

44 years ago today (June 13) a KH-9 HEXAGON spy satellite flew over the Falkland Islands during the Falklands War. The satellite captured the cratered runway at Port Stanley and the burning ship Sir Galahad. Links in reply.

Here’s a small snippet of Crimean Radio, featuring the most iconic Lada commercial ever made! It’s been translated into English using the most advanced Chinese AI device available on the internet.
