44 years ago today (June 13) a KH-9 HEXAGON spy satellite flew over the Falkland Islands during the Falklands War. The satellite captured the cratered runway at Port Stanley and the burning ship Sir Galahad. Links in reply.

Somebody on Twitter recently posted some photos taken by somebody in the British army showing that attack. They were on the ground and watched the ship burning. I think they're new.

These are not the photos I saw. These are more dramatic. The other ones were taken by a soldier up in the hills with the ship burning in the distance.
