I am so fucking over this "well we had it coming because of weakness or whatever" navel-gazing pity party bullshit. Not even the people that voted for the fucker deserve what's happening because we all - ALL OF US - deserve better than what the fuck is going on. I'm here to work to save ALL of us.

Kasey Kagawa@punkey.org

Fucking spare me. None of us, even the people that fucking voted for the creep, deserved this. This shit fucking blows and we should be pissed off about it, none of this "well America had it coming you know" nonsense. Fuck that noise.

Yeah the Slate is DOA

Ford's $28,350 Ford Fathom EV pickup will come with onboard power conversion tech that will slash the cost of setting it up as a home backup battery. Will other automakers join Ford and Tesla in pursuing AC V2H? And will utilities let them plug in? www.canarymedia.com/articles/ele... #energysky

Reposting the thread where I lay out the reasons why:

Kasey Kagawa@punkey.org

I'm sorry, but the Fathom announcement alone killed the Slate Truck dead. We're about to get a repeat of the lessons why startup car companies get crushed when the incumbents decide to compete with them. The Slate is too cheaply made for consumers, and too much of a question mark for fleets.

In 2029 we need a: - 14AS3 Authorizing Act which would give Congress and POTUS - Wide authority to declare "enduring" actions (pardons) of Trump 2.0 null-and-void - Jurisdiction Strip SCOTUS and the federal courts from this action

liberalcurrents.comMamdani Teaches Us How to Speak the Language of IllegitimacyHow should the next Democratic government act on the belief that Trump's second term was lawless and illegitimate?

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

This is probably the closest civilian example to what kind of dipshit Hegseth is. It's such a uniquely military form of assholery that everyone who's ever served immediately sniffed out what kind of Bad Guy Hegseth is.

To-do list for SD Mayor Pete and DSD Uncle Frank (and the transition team): - at 1201 rip down the stupid fucking sign, regardless of whether Congress has officially changed the name (not looking good for the 27 NDAA lol) - at 1202 issue orders to rename all the confederate bases back*

giving Jellyfin another try and it might still be a huge pain in the ass to set up but at least it runs like shit on the server, is riddled with questionable design decisions (no one wants pagination), is much uglier, riddled with jank, and is completely unintutive for endusers to install

Mothers who patronize retail arts and crafts stores are a really politically potent and organized force. You really don’t want to cross the Hobby Lobby Mommy Lobby.

the problem with being a self described outsider who is also extremely dumb is that you don't understand anything and so you're playing hungry hungry hippos while the institution is playing chess, and you don't even realize it

I am absolutely leaning incompetence before maliciousness for this one. This screams a Veep-level "We love Canada, which Trump hates, so like us! Alberta is Canada! What's separatism?" fuck up

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

My first stop was Alberta, the only province not boycotting Californian wines. I spoke to provincial leaders about the importance of the Canadian market to California farmers and the importance of continuing close collaboration on dairy, beef and energy trade.

One of the many "does not know with whom he is fucking with" issues for Musk is if he starts getting the real deal "enemy hostile" treatment from a sufficiently motivated foreign intelligence service - like, say, Ukraine's. I doubt whatever private security he has is up to the task.

Kevin Rothrock@kevinrothrock.me

"Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine," The Telegraph reports. “He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it. The reality is that they were both in it.” www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2...

Not that they'll try to kill him, but considering all the very likely illegal and embarrassing things he's almost certainly concealing?

Can't wait to see how they plan on keeping soldiers from fucking blinding themselves from all the way across the fucking motor pool let alone using these on the move or keeping the optics clean enough they don't explode or keeping the capacitors from killing anyone when shot

Muncy is being straight with us: "We're playing like shit, and they're playing great." It's not complicated - the Brewers are playing their best playoff baseball in an age and we have too many injured or slumping players. Full credit to them and I hope they win it all for Yelich and Ueck.

I have no problem with the Dodgers as constituted. I do have a problem with a certain type of Dodger fan who is so illiterate in baseball that they whisper about cheating. You can have all the talent in the world, but decisions win ballgames.

My job mostly consists of calling people and telling them they now have a serious security and legal problem that will cost them money and they have no choice but to see exactly how bad it is It makes me *very* popular

Every field of science has a moment where the "fun in the lab with da boiz" attitude runs headlong into the real world consequences of doing whatever without consideration of fault, failure, or consequences. Chemistry had it with Ypres, physics with the Manhattan Project, CompSci might have it here.

to move the argument up another layer of abstraction: Silicon Valley culture developed in a period where its social impact was relatively limited, and as "software ate the world" and its social impact has massively expanded those cultural values haven't been updated to reflect such responsibility

Operations/automation developers continue to need to be hit with one of these

Cadence “Not A Coffee Civet” Andrysiak@supportourpoops.bsky.social

Connecting things to *an* internet is a lifesaver if you wanna reduce operations expenses but as I've learned as well, it's only as good as your instrumentation and your telemetry, so the folks who think "HAHA WE CUT OPS STAFF WITH THIS" now get beaned with "Now I gotta hire more instrument techs"
