It’s either this, or disappearing into a forest cabin with my drums, a laptop, and an armload of weird synthesizers to quietly live out my remaining days
Thinking about a 3rd act career change and personal reinvention as one of those private security goons in the white snowsuits that get to ski and ride snowmobiles and shoot M11s
Obviously I don’t know the details of how the PHP vulnerability was found, but it is often the case that many of these “humans missed this for years in widely-studied problems” discoveries are found by spending nation state-sized amounts of money brute-forcing the problem space.
OAI spent the equivalent of ~$20m just on their N-S math paper, just on tokens; not counting wasted effort on other math problems, payroll for the people running this project, etc. How much do we think they're spending to get these cibersecurity results?

Back in Chicago, I saw Snakes on a Plane on opening night at the AMC River East. There's a reserved seat, so naturally I sat right next to it. A few trailers in, Richard Roeper sits next to me. He's sighing and writing stuff down the whole movie. I'm howling like De Niro in Cape Fear. Two thumbs up.
watching snakes on a plane for the first time
Oof. This one hits hard. A must read
It's Monday morning, and I am reluctantly entering into the discussion about what The Democrats should do about The Trans, most of which translates to "believe in something, for once in your life, for fuck's sake." No paywall on this guy: jude-doyle.ghost.io/transformer-...
