I can confirm that AI Ben Garrison is incredible ;) Ben, you can retire. (Gemini 3 Pro prompt: "Create a comic in the style of Ben Garrison that parodies the viewpoints of Ben Garrison. Pick a particular topic and take it to humorous extremes")

styled-components maintenance mode doesn't have to mean panic mode. Our engineer @codey.bsky.social made performant community forks. Linear's already seeing 40% faster renders with zero code changes. Not a permanent fix, but it buys you time to migrate properly. www.sanity.io/blog/cut-sty...

Unless you are willing to remain in unending, perpetual conflict with virtually the entire social structure of the platform, staying on Twitter WILL POISON YOUR THINKING WITH BIGOTRY AND NATIVISM. It will creep in. You will start thinking in their terms because the only alternative is constant war.

This is very good. If you have the time, be sure to submit some actual feedback to counter the vocal minority trying to enable platform manipulation by scammers.

From a report today on @npr.org: People held at Alligator Auschwitz have no legal path out. ICE says they're held on state charges, so Federal immigration judges can't hear cases for bond or anything else. The state hasn't charged them, so state judges can't hear the case because there's no case. 1/

It very literally does not make any sense to be mad at the single-digit team of people who run Itch over this. They would very much like to be able to let people sell transgressive smut, as evidenced by the fact that they allowed people to sell transgressive smut until fascists tattled to Mastercard

I do not see why payment processors are still doing business with X. These are not isolated incidents and this is not even a user content issue (though it also is that) — the owner of the platform is changing one of its features explicitly to promote white nationalism. How is this not brand risk??!

Tragic. Last year’s “gameplay” video was a Deus Ex successor too good to be true — and turns out it was.

I can confirm that Xbox is canceling the long-troubled project Perfect Dark and closing The Initiative, per email from Xbox studios president Matt Booty seen by Bloomberg News. First reported by Windows Central

NEW: The death shadow cast by Musk. “When U.S.-supported soup kitchens were forced to close, babies starved quietly, their mothers said, while older siblings died begging for food.” The world’s richest man did this to the world’s poorest children. Don’t ever forget.

Imagine how much better Mamdani would have done if he didn’t literally campaign on “I will make this city worse”. Insane that the Dems haven’t found anyone reasonable after Adams crashed out and just let him build momentum into this — and now will pay the price nationally for his bullshit.

Let the record show that I believe both of Mamdani signature policies (free transit and rent freeze) to be disastrous, run counter to stated objectives and cause decades-long damage if implemented. If he’s actually smart he would be wise to drop them once he gets into office. Not holding my breath.

Or maybe I’m overestimating objective reality again and he just needs to be charismatic, active online and play ball with the media for this not to matter. It’s just that I’m tired of Democratic bad governance being a story (deservedly) and he seems determined to become the new poster child for it.

What in the fresh hell is this. Did someone responsible for the abomination that is Windows 11 UX bite the entire Apple design team? Did they poach whoever at Google made nigh-identical icons for every product? The point of iconography and UI is to be distinct — this adds cognitive load to each tap.

The 3d effect from photos is fun. Disappointed they seem to be replacing album covers the horrendous cover videos in Apple Music. Those are usually so poorly made and so unnecessary.

Ok, clear view is optional, thank Christ. Still really conflicted about the transparency/readability tradeoff for the UI but I guess we’ll see how those materials are actually implemented.

Really love the new text selection zoom bubble btw. And the lock screen time widget layering plays really well with the effect. Less in love with losing more dense tab bars in favor of floating primary nav.

Can’t watch WWDC yet but I wonder if they do anything at all to mitigate all the issues this approach creates. If not, this will be first time I can remember Apple absolutely fumbling UI fundamentals (colored app icons and free flow Home Screen last year were bad, but at least those were optional).

Refractions and dynamic transitions are super cool but I’m incredibly excited they finally got the courage to ship the Safari redesign on iOS.

Love to have to scroll to a white spot to make my persistent UI elements readable at all. This is good design.

It’s funny how blatantly Twitter now inflates video watch counts by making every other post in the algo feed a video. At least when Facebook did it they’ve had some veneer of credibility.

your content feed is deliberately engaging with other posters and using hashtags and the like to expand reach. Unlike Twitter of yore, Bsky does not have the audience or reach wide enough to make it fun and worthwhile. Unless your special interest is leftist politics I guess.

There’s also an inherent cap this style of content delivery imposes on a social network. I had time for a chronological timeline and manually searching for folks/communities in 2011 — I (and most) now don’t. It doesn’t have to come from the Bsky team but there NEEDS to be an algo feed at some point.

One of the many problems with Bsky is that discovery is terrible. Discovery is full of garbage and same couple dozen accounts, What’s Hot Classic is better at surfacing out of network stuff at the expense of seeing hog every fifth skeet. Like Twitter of yore, the only way to actually expand

people get mad at me when I say this but it's a Serious Problem for bluesky's long-term viability that the userbase actively tries to bully people they don't like off here

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

The problem is that Bluesky is still a niche platform at 1.3 Mil active users per day globally. Getting your boss to say yes to making an account and dedicating the time and effort to maintaining it means they need to see positives for that investment. A middle finger isn’t a good return.

What many of us warned, & what is unavoidably clear now, is that there is no privileged sphere of "real life" that is sheltered, separate from the information environment. It's narratives all the way down -- even to the point that they shape *how people experience their own material circumstances*.

Inside you there are two wolves. One is active, the other one is on hot standby and becomes active if the first one fails or is taken down for maintenance. Add more wolves as necessary for increased redundancy load balancing. A quorum badger can be added for environments with multiple active wolves.

Oh wow, devastating. It was pretty clear for a while that the management thought it was underperforming, but still — didn’t expect Vox to just mercilessly dump one of their founding verticals like this. Polygon really raised the bar for what game media could be.
