why aren't packable jackets better. it's 2026, i should be able to push a button on the jacket and it goes FWOOOSH into its little carrying bag. if accidentlly pressing the button while wearing the jacket crushes me to death instantly i consider the tradeoff worth it

just watched it for the first time a few months ago and it's an incredible film

i'm tired of pretending Lincoln isn't a top 5 Spielberg

after all the php stuff i logged back onto the SA forums and got a whiff of nostalgia. some places on the internet are still just like that

watching the movie and shaking my head every time Holmes is dishonest to make sure everyone knows i don't agree with her

I think this is a failure of the film, though. Malcolm Harris and John Carreyrou have been pushing back against this because this framing of “knowing the human” is inherently sympathetic and it achieves this by ignoring so many of the hard facts. For one, she chased that public attention.

Some facts about the 28 people charged today: - Every one was a lawful permanent resident. - 4 of the 28 are accused only of registering, and not voting, and only 22 are accused of voting in 2024. - The median and average age is 50 - 22 noncitizen voters = 0.0001% of the California 2024 electorate.

Candidates aren't asked -- to the same degree of volume as other questions like "how are you going to increase the police force" -- about things like "how will you ensure that housing/shelter offers are meaningful?" paths.la/reports/erp/... bsky.app/profile/repo...

And a report from PATH, a longitudinal survey of people since three years ago, looks at what are termed as "encampment sweeps" (think 41.18) and "encampment resolutions" (like Inside Safe). They ask things like "How often do sweeps result in a meaningful shelter offer and stay?"
