Going to watch the second live action Scooby-Doo. I see eyeballs and pterosaurs in the promotional picture. Who will Daphne punch this time? Will Fred do rope dart again? Will they attempt to sacrifice the dog to evil spirits? All will be revealed.

Lots of stuff being promoted due to ace week, so I'm recording the posts to spread out the reposts. The one thing I miss from Tumblr elsewhere is a proper repost queue.

I watched the new Masters of the Universe film, which I generally liked, but we didn't see He-Man point his sword at Cringer during the transformation. I have transformation scene standards here.

Mostly doing admin today. Everyday Aliens has some slightly updated ebook formatting going out. I also need to do Rainbow Lights and Sunstruck, but those will be a bit more time consuming. It's been some years, so I want to reread them in full.

I wrote about the history and mysteries of "babysitter in peril" novels for @unwinnable.com's Halloween issue.

Here, have the findings in a nice Medium post too. Now with actual graphs and more waffling! Also a books mentioned list, though it's not likely to name many unfamiliar titles. dovelynnwriter.medium.com/asexuality-a...

[collapse] Right. I have, I think, every aspec/aspec-coded prior to the 50s book that I could reasonably be expected to look up/know of. That puts our total at 831 individual books, of which I've read 411, give or take a few I'm missing because, uh, that is a lot.

I had a slow build author scam/spam attempt that was a little different to the rest. They emailed claiming to be a reader who'd had issues posting a review to Amazon and wanted my Goodreads link.

The slow build is because they did post a (very GenAI) review to Goodreads. Then waited three months before emailing the pitch about marketing strategies and such. Their review had already been deleted by that point.

No point replying to a bot, so I'm not. But putting it out there that this is happening. Both the confused reader emails and that authors are getting random GenAI reviews as bait (and not because they paid for them or anything like that).

Hey, folks, a little intro! I'm Cedar McCloud, a trans, queer, and disabled (AuDHD) indie author and artist in Southern California. You might know me for my tarot and oracle decks, or for my books, or both. My current main thing is the Eternal Library Series, about magic queer bookbinders ✨📖 ✨

My author website is old school html using http, so can't be included in the new links thing. But still works in the profile, so I'm leaving it there. I added a couple of other links though.

I'm getting back into the horror novel slowly. It's technically more of a novel-in-stories, which isn't too surprising (I've read a lot more short horror than novels, not for any particular reason... it's just how it happened).

I survived the dentist! Only flu jabs to go now (which got delayed due to pharmacy issues). Then I can focus on the most important thing of the season: eating.

Somewhat weird emails today as all of Kobo declines me as an affiliate. It's fair as I deleted my review blog and no longer review, but I thought they'd rejected the requests ages ago.

In good news, I have acquired a monster plushie that has five eyes and then the designer thought, no, that's not enough eyes, and added four eyestalks as well.

It looks like Disney's Hexed is also embracing giving important characters unsettling numbers of eyes and I'm here for that.

I see the new Disney film has giant eyeball creatures, as is right and proper. 👁️

hello, I am doing some research and would like to tap into the collective brains of BSKY: 1. can you share some genre or literary fiction magazines that have closed and the archive is NO LONGER ONLINE 2. the same but the archives remain online FOR NOW i would also appreciate RTs for awareness 💀

It's getting colder where I am, so get ahead with the (rather rainy) wintery vibes with this book! 🎄

WERECONIFER is the sequel to WERECOCKROACH. Some months after the first book, Rin and their friends are asked to help find a missing shapeshifting tree. Generally gentle with a queer found family and also aliens. #AroAce #QueerBookSky More information: www.polenthblake.com/words/weretr...

We've now surpassed 75% of our funding goal! In addition to subscriptions, we've got t-shirts, mugs, signed books, stuff from the magazine archives... We're still about $12,000 away from our $50,000 target with 7 days remaining, so please consider backing if you haven't already. bit.ly/LS-NM-26

I did some spinning with a cheap ball of wool, to get a feel for the ratios and treadling on the wheel. (One weird tip I guess, as this saves wasting the actual spinning wool.)

I sorted out a lot of stuff including booking everyone's flu vaccinations. After this, and the dentist, hoping that'll be all the medical stuff for this year.

Five days (and end of the first calendar month) of Wereconifer. So far, sales are a little higher than I usually get at this point, plus some sales of Werecockroach. I should have enough to cover my website costs until the new year, so that'll relax things a bit.

PLANET SICKNESS by Kat Giles! Small press published sci-fi book about a disabled archivist who discovers discrepancies in the archival records regarding a disasterous space mission 70 years ago. Themes of climate justice, disability justice, and critical librarianship, in a tight sci-fi mystery.

Discoverability for new SFF books seems way down these days, especially outside of bestsellers and certain subgenres. I'm noticing this as both a reader and a writer. Great stuff is in danger of sinking without a trace. Please post about new/recent books you love or are excited for!!! I'll start:

Getting back into some writing today, though at a relaxed pace. In longer stuff, I have a horror novel (probably next) and then a third Werecockroach book. It'd also be nice to finish a few short stories.

We’ve spent many, many hours over the past few months searching the rock pools of Cornwall for a rainbow sea slug. Today, we finally found one! Absolutely worth all the time we’ve spent - it was truly breathtaking.

It's time to reintroduce The Chronicles of Nerezia as a whole <3 With FRAGMENTED releasing on October 9 and concluding Disc One, I thought we could go back to some basics. Always feels weird to try to encompass so much in so little words 💚 DISCOUNTED ON ITCH: itch.io/s/200863/fra...
