What are the chances he really just wants to go “computer, put all the women in bikinis”

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

Seriously though none of this is surprising. So many gamers still think the only purpose of a video game is to cater perfectly to your desires and lull you into a state of pleasant smooth-brain gratification - let alone teach you, show you something new, discomfort or emotionally challenge you

There are 7 youtubers in these photos not including me. I bet you can’t identify them all!

Trying to have a nice time in the UK but I keep getting followed around by essayists

This is the exact phenomenon that creates the sense of “conspicuous missingness” (at least for those sensitive to these things) that I talk about in regards to the video games scene in my video What Is the Games Industry Missing? youtu.be/9JbfFYUVR-U?...

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

And it’s also why it’s so hard to make others even notice the problem. “How do you communicate to other people that there’s a problem when the results of that problem are invisible? What do you point to as evidence when what you’re trying to point to is, by definition, just a lack?”

This was always going to be one of my top days out on this trip. I spent five hours at the Tower of London today and it absolutely ruled. There are towers. There are friendly ravens. There are horrific instruments of torture

If I had to guess how it started, I will admit that the embarrassing reason is probably this Goosebumps I read when I was like 9 years old. Definitely one of my top 5 Goosebumps books (some others would be Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb and Beast From the East, not that anybody asked).

I was absolutely giddy all day. Of course I got picked on by the tour guide (who told me I played along so well I’d “make a great actor one day”, I wonder if he’s a fan of the channel 😂), another one asked me if there was a reason I seemed “so excited”. Fucking yeah man. I’m in the Tower of London

I’ve had a weird fascination with medieval crime & punishment ever since I was a kid. When people used to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up I remember my (very cool and normal) answer being I wanted to be a jailer. The Tower of London always held a special interest for me.

I will be in disbelief about this for a long time. Forever, perhaps

There were MANY highlights this weekend, but one of my favorites was teaching @pixeladay.bsky.social about how northern swedes say "yes".

I just finished Donna Tartt’s The Secret History and perhaps my pettiest gripe is that one of the main characters has a padlocked closet and the protagonist is like, huh, that’s weird, and then we never come back to it again. This is a mystery novel. It’s not even an interesting red herring

I had to look it up and Google tells me it’s just there to “emphasise Henry’s secretive nature” - nah man. Nah. You can establish secretive natures in many ways but if you have a locked closet in a mystery novel that you specifically draw attention to, there better be something fuckin good in there

YAY FROGS

Today we launched Ribbit — An Anagram game where you'll find every word — live to everyone! Letters are only linked if they're used in a word. As you find words, the grid prunes itself. By the end, there's just one word left. Then frogs sing to you. Play here: www.puzzmo.com/puzzle/2026-...

This is how I feel when teachers pronounce that a student’s work is AI because it lacks specificity. I mean maybe, but also, it’s such a common human error that in Year 11 we gifted our English teacher a stamp saying “BE MORE SPECIFIC” so she wouldn’t have to keep writing it on everyone’s papers

This post is unavailable.

Of course it’s essential to keep an eye out for sneaky AI but have we forgotten that students have been turning in half-assed generic essays since the dawn of man

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.

What do Wanderstop, Celeste, humanistic psychotherapy, and my shitty 2025 have in common? Watch my new video to find out!

Even back then, there was something very funny about this game with super realistic graphics that let you crouch in a few blades of grass, literally right next to a guy, and he just would not see you
