The three kinds of Ted Talks:
1. We gave poor children in the third world self-affirmation classes. they later became billionaires.
2. I completely changed my field of study, no biggie. also I'm here to advertise my venture
3. I cured cancer with essential oils, big cancer is hiding this from you

learning that the legendary "creator's wife with mobility loss" who everyone says ~inspired~ Dressmaker is in fact a co creator and developer for the game and also they are not even married
why does no one talk about how opera and opera gx use malware and redirects on piracy websites to forcibly download their browsers on people's devices?
i feel like the internet turning "male gaze" and "female gaze" into "art style vibes" is in the top 5 funniest degenerations of haute academia art criticism theory ive seen
Its kind of a lunatic ass misreading of an already comatose law like oh u chatgpt-ed this PIL through one of your chronically online terf meltdowns didnt you you jaahil braindead wannabe colonizing fucks

my particular gripe about this is with chubbyemu. he describes REAL people's ACTUAL cases with titles like "She didn't know, but worms had already eaten 87% of her brain (shocking.)"
i understands that this is how you get people to click on something and i am all for that but ill never quite get over using "youtube thumbnail reaction face" for videos about important issues

Being yourself & loving yourself-- not in the abstract, touchy feely "feeling" sense, but in the concrete, behavioral sense-- is hardcore rebellion against the bullies & abusers who tried to shame & pressure you out of your own identity. That's real, not metaphorical.
You rebel.

You are not the metaphorical, emotional, or behavioral mask you were made to wear your entire life. You're actually beautiful under there. You are.
You get to remove that mask at your pace, as you feel safe to do so-- but understand, the mask does not hide anything hideous.

CPTSD survivors aren't getting f*cked up about things in the past. We're responding to things happening in our body, our nervous & endocrine systems, today.
Telling a survivor to "let it go" misses the point of what's actually, physically happening, here, now.
whats even fucking funnier is that i did this in C. my program kept compiling because my dumbass put the "var = value" thing inside extra parenthesis in the if statement so OBVIOUSLY it would come out to be true every time

they tried so hard to stop me from absorbing bhojpuri when I was young so my family agreed to not speak bhojpuri around me but parts of it are still present in me lmao
although i do try and hold a more nuanced view like "machine translation good, extractive corpus bad, duty of care missing"
i simply do not have the time or energy or good faith to talk about the finer points, especially when it feels like people are simply carving out exceptions for themselves
Please note that many people with intersex traits consider the term "hermaphrodite" to be a slur, so this is an example of intersex people reclaiming the word and fighting back.

The Strategy Lab for Intersex Movements (SLIM) has created a moving and informative resource called "Hermaphrodites Fight", A Digital Museum of Intersex Resistance in the United States, 1996-2026

Please note that DSD as a term is especially popular with: 1. doctors 2. non-intersex parents of intersex children.
Often the reasoning provided for preferring this term is something anti-queer, which also brings me to the next topic...
Unfortunately, these unnecessary or even harmful surgeries are forced on many children (and sometimes adults) even to this date, and are legal in most jurisdictions.
A lot of intersex activism focuses on fighting this.
Doctors used to frequently claim some kinds of intersex variations increase cancer risk, but this has been called into doubt + not much research.
This is especially important because it can be used to "justify" surgery on children which is not necessary or even harmful.
Being intersex can cause medical issues or not. It really depends on each individual person's specific experience!
Overstating the issues OR understating them is both possible as a form of intersexism.
Intersex people can experience specific oppression due to being intersex, it is called intersexism.
Intersexism can still happen even if one identifies with their birth gender assignment.
Being intersex is not necessarily apparent at birth.
It can be apparent at birth, puberty, or even not very apparent and people find out during an unrelated medical procedure.
Being intersex means your physiological characteristics you are born with are not entirely male or female.
It doesn't mean two sets of genitals.
It can be related to many things: chromosomes, hormones, genitals, internal reproductive organs etc.
Happy #IntersexAwarenessDay!
