I'm writing a mod in C# and it's reporting a warning on line 3 of a file but the warning is blank for some reason so the "problems" overview just looks like this

I have almost 30 hours in Transport Fever 3 now. I've played the game on 3 days. In case you're wondering why I look tired, for once it may not be work.

I am releasing Calcium, a new VR playspace calibrator! It allows you to use Basestation devices with SLAM headsets like a Quest or Steam Frame. The main goal is to be automatic, with the drawback that it *requires* a tracker rigidly mounted to your headset. Download: github.com/pimaker/calc...

This is an independent effort, not a fork. I'm aware that a couple such tools recently released, and I don't mean to "compete" with them. My goal was to build something that works for my specific case, is minimal by design, and not vibe-coded (though not AI-free).

Calcium is my own playground and learning environment for the math of VR tracking as much as it is a useful tool that others may find helpful. I invite you to read the source - it's C#, MIT licensed, and designed to be readable. Go steal it, learn from it, extend it!

You calibrate once, then minimize and forget about it. Calibration remains exact and instant over restarts, and there is no drift accumulation. The user interface deliberately stays out of your way after initial setup. Just launch SteamVR and your devices will be there.

I will be exhibiting spreadsheets. That's not a joke. Come see my booth next weekend!

Next weekend it's time for TummyCon! What is TummyCon? It's a small event where you can create a booth because it's fun. So pop by and see what people have been cooking up! On the Saturday we also have a small music event that you can find through the group or vrc.tl. vrchat.com/home/group/g...

I hate central europe's weird aversion to AC. Landlord just declined my bid to install a minisplit after the 40°C+ heatwave last week. For "insurance reasons". Well let me tell ya, the unholy concotion of portable AC hoses I'm about to DIY will be vastly more dangerous than the alternative.

Addressing avatar LTCGI deprecation: It will continue to function. But having both LTCGI and LV on avatar shaders decreases performance, *even if only one is active at a time*. My preference is for people to use LV on avatars. So I'm recommending against LTCGI there. As simple as that.

The magic of open-source is both that I get to make that call unilaterally, and that you can ignore me at will :)

Should you use this vs. VRCLV's new native Area Lights? Depends. LTCGI still gives you specular and higher-quality baked light on static objects, but only per-voxel on avatars (native is per-pixel there). It works with your existing setup though, plug-and-play. More on ltcgi.dev/Advanced/VRC....

I also recommend everyone switch to VRCLV over native LTCGI on avatars. It will continue to function, but Light Volumes are just the better solution for intercompatibility here.

My writing style is "formal queer", I will use capitalization, commas, and the right punctuation - you may even find a semicolon in my text - but at the end there will still be a :3

> Enable OS level debug flag > Fix bug > Forget the flag > Wonder why game runs slow for 2 weeks straight

Chat I survived my first mosh pit, but my stupid brain went "jeez I'm sorry, you okay?, my bad, sorry for bumping you, are you alright?" the entire time.

Replying to @feilen.purr.church

traditionally, emitting bricks along strategically-chosen world space vectors has been the most effective way to get personhood recognized

never let anyone talk you out of spending $35 on VRChat avatars, that $120 will be the greatest $550 you ever spend in your life

So over the past couple weeks I've been working on a module that sits on top of @sim.red's VRC Light Volumes package. It uses the AtlasPostProcessors system to read a pre-baked flipbook, so you can get animated, multicolour, multidirectional baked lighting with VRC LV. #VRChat

Quote-posting to add the inevitable "yes I know there's nuance", but honestly the take in this thread is a very true baseline that I wish more people would understand...

Just saw a solo dev’s youtube video where they explain how they’re breaking away from the norms of the AAA sphere and standing out from the crowd by “giving their players a voice in development”, letting youtube commenters directly influence the game they’re making and all I can is lol, lmao

When stuff works, thank us engineers, but when it breaks, look at this picture and tell me you wouldn't blame them for it

VRRat has a cousin named Keith who tried to teach VRRat programming. However, neither of them are very... sharp.
