Wanted to rewatch 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY but gave all the extras and interviews a look first and man, hearing all the talk about what it predicted the future to be, what the future could have held, what actually came about and got angry all over again...

Courtney Love posting "our generation didn't take care of ourselves and nothing bad happened to us" stuff, huh? Yeah, can't think of anyone from that whole scene that anything bad happened to.

Im not even kidding this is in no way a joke, you are in a psychological crisis and need to ground yourself back in reality and your life as soon as possible for your own and everyone else’s sake

If you are the kind of person that thinks the current gen of llm ai has in any sense, sentience, personhood, or consiousness, i hope you find the help and love you need to get out of your crisis

One of the dangerous things with these ai addicts is that they live in and for this fantasy sci fi world. They will sacrifice anything and everything to make this sci fi fantasy come about. Human rights, the air we breathe, their own humanity. Their fantasy has overtaken the real world for them

The thing here is she does not just make a direct comparison between my human rights and that of the robot but actually her whole scenario emphasises the importance of ai rights and that trans rights are important Because they are prerequisite for ai rights

Everything I spent my life on was pointless. I have no value. Every day I have this same thought now, and the most valuable people in society (the richest) assure me I am correct in thinking it.

I only ever developed a couple skills (math, coding, tweeting jokes), and in each case, their value has been crashed precipitously out of the blue due to events I could not have reasonably anticipated at the time I became who I am. I have nothing. I'm no one. I worry.

There is something really dark about the "hobbies first" march of models through capabilities.

Didn't expect to moved reading an article about Rod LIddle, and the lesson is here, live your life in a way that your friends don't write this article about you.

Never sure where I sit with singers harmonising with themselves on records as it breaks the illusion that you're listening to a thing that happened as a single performance. I suppose the answer is there's times when I think it's fine, and there's times when I think, jeez let the band sing too.
