To all of you celebrating, happy international 10/20 day. This year, we celebrated with Walter Mellow, our lab’s EEGenius.

Accepting to review a paper after complaining the whole day to everybody about my to do list & backlog, because “oh, this looks cool”.

We are all busy and taking time off often causes stress & guilt. I’m grateful I have friends that take me away from the computer and force me to go stargazing sometimes. Photo taken close to Pyramid Lake in the Nevada desert.

Fun times! Thanks @tmsmultilab.bsky.social Well done 🦔 🐿️ 🐺 🐍!

And it's over! Our first #Hackathon event was attended by around 20 scientists from across the globe. We worked on two main #TMS topics, with lots of overlap between our four teams (🦔🐿🐺🐍). Amazing what can be done in a couple of days! Thank you to everyone who contributed 💛 #TMS #BrainStim 🧠🧲⚡️

This graph took me 3 years to make. It's perhaps the largest-ever #metaanalysis of #TMS #BrainStim data. It includes my first real scientific discovery 🧵: When you stimulate the hand with a brief electric pulse, your brain and spinal cord are momentarily less excitable: muscle output decreases 1/n

Key findings: - Online TUS systematically reduces corticospinal excitability as indexed by a reduction of motor evoked potentials (MEPs). This likely indicates that online TUS increases GABAa mediated inhibition. 4/5

- Bidirectional neuromodulatory effects are possible. Changes in sonication parameters of common protocols (e.g., theta-burst or low-intensity TUS) can result in both inhibition and excitation. 5/5

During the past few years, evidence of human neuromodulation through Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS) has been growing. We therefore found it timely to systematically accumulate & meta-analyse the current evidence. 2/5
