Project 2025 was a map to driving this entire country off of a cliff and they've taken it and put the pedal to the metal. Literally destroying all of our ability to compete in ANYTHING from the inside (and that's before you get to the life and death stuff like disease research and climate change).

NSF has reduced the research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and earth sciences by ~80%. 80%! A lot of us will not be conducting new research or training new students for the foreseeable future.

Watching this Warped Tour stream and I'm curious, are the kids not into moshing? These are the weakest circle pits I've ever seen. Or is it just that everyone there is 40+ and can't do it anymore? Haha

True👇 All recent appointments to state Universities and all 12 people recommended by the Legislature for the Utah Supreme Court slots are white, male Mormons Call it the MoBro Club

All so we can get the amazing technological leap that is Ask Jeeves! Seriously, ask yourself how many of the business case AI uses you see promoted are just search engines designed to answer questions. It's 100%. Burning down the planet for something we had in 1998 (and no one used then).

One thing about AI that has never been explained to me: Why is it that they get to steal from us; our data, our art, our music, our writing, our science, our privacy, EVERYTHING, feed it to their model (that is useless without it, and mostly with it), then keep 100% of the money?

Could a non-evil Republican theoretically exist? Here in every major newsroom in America, for no clear reason, we're going to assume the answer is yes

The SCOTUS ruling saying that we already have robust anti-corruption laws is very funny considering we have a president that breaks those laws on a daily basis (and when they've previously said it's OK for SCOTUS to take bribes). A bit hack and lazy, but funny.

On top of that, they're burning the planet down to power these things and putting the burden of those environmental costs on everyone else. It's like someone robbing your house and then smearing shit all over it and then expecting you to pay them. It makes no sense.

Listen to the long awaited new episode of Klubzkast and you might just hear some Folkpunkery happening. And when I say "might" I mean "will definitely"!

Not sure if I have this right, but as an outsider looking in, it seems that in Keir Starmer, England's richest and most misshapen op-ed writers basically got their custom designed policy portfolio and it's been an unmitigated disaster. Surely they are taking some time to meaningfully reflect on this

Have finished the track list, and damn them gold chains is good. Unfortunately, now comes the hard part of writing/recording bits and putting it all together. It's coming...eventually.

Would anyone actually care/listen/want it if I threw together another "radio show" (and if I still have access to my mixcloud account and it still exists)?

the reason everything is so expensive and dysfunctional in the united states is because all of the most basic elements of our society are owned, controlled, and run by gangs of criminals in business suits

Really tired of (almost exclusively right wing) idiots who think they're so much smarter than everyone else. Like these AI and surveillance tech guys or government nazis. All as dumb as paint (really dumb paint), but think they're geniuses.

But important to keep in mind that there's no "what actually happened" for conservatives anymore. That's a matter of opinion and if they can get enough retweets on their opinion then they win. They are not bound by objective reality

Republicans have stopped accepting the results of elections that don't go their way because they've realized they don't have to. They've learned that if they get enough of an echo chamber going that the rest of the world will have to accommodate whatever they're repeating, no matter how stupid

Had an awesome idea! Altman, O'Leary, and the like can build their data centers up their own asses. No destruction of anything useful, plenty of natural gas, and we don't have to tell them to shove it!

It is easy to understand why AI cannot replace peer review, any undergraduate can recognize the obvious flaws. We should treat statements like this as symptoms of a sad and morbid mass hysteria mainly spread via LinkedIn power users

Peer-reviewed papers are ‘old hat science’, says millionaire investor. Candy Crush businessman Mel Morris says universities “must embrace AI” to transform into economic powerhouses. www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-i...

Yes, pretty much exactly the platform of fascism they ran on. Perhaps if the media had done a better job actually covering the election instead of taking a liar his word and doing normalizing "horse race" coverage, more people might have caught on before this happened. Oh well.

They're stealing billions of your money to pay off violent right-wing psychos while doing everything in their power to spike gas up to $5 a gallon, make groceries into a luxury and hand the country over to the oligarchs who want to permanently replace you.

Not to be a dick, but the president stealing $1.8 billion dollars for him and his fellow criminals isn't "the biggest scandal in American history." It's not even the biggest scandal of his administration. Has everyone forgotten the secret police and concentration camps???

Going to see one of my favorite albums played live in its entirety tonight, from a band whose resurrection seemed less likely than Jesus'. Now if only there were anywhere to park within miles of the venue...

Corruption is the only plausible explanation for Cox and the rest of Utah's "leaders" forcing this on us.

“A physics professor at USU explained that the 9 GW to power the data center will produce an additional 7-8 GW of waste heat, adding up to a 16 GW total thermal load. It’s the “equivalent of 23 A-bombs worth of energy dumped into this local environment every single day.” —Salt Lake Tribune
