As many of you know, I have set myself a mission in 2025 to try and raise £50,000 for education-related charities that are equipping young people as they navigate those tricky years into adult life and work. Thank you for all the support so far! - all details at www.givewheel.com/fundraising/...

Just finished #NDCToronto. A conference that has technical depth but also dwells on the humanity of being a programmer, and gives us a lot to think about. Thank you @mikedaum.bsky.social and @gregcons.bsky.social for convening an excellent couple of days. @ndcconferences.com

We launched the Spark Awards for Big Changemakers at Big Change HQ yesterday! ✨ A big thank you to everyone who joined us and sparked powerful conversations about co-creating a future in which all young people can thrive. #SparkAwards #BigChangemakers (1/2)

The Bloomberg Terminal, believe it or not, is based on web technology 🌐 This deep-dive talk by @jason-williams.co.uk & @pcwilliams.net reveals what that looks like in terms of Chromium embedding. It explains how we keep it blazing fast, including by adding a new Web Perf API: Container Timing 🔥

Myself and @pcwilliams.net continue to be humbled by the response we had at @perfnow.bsky.social. Our talk “Bloomberg Becomes Browser” has been published! You can watch it here: youtu.be/y1MCLZm8yAY?...

After almost six years (eight if you include my stint at GT) 162 race weekends and over 240 events, tomorrow marks my final day with McLaren.

After seeing @was.tl's great talk at @cppnorth.bsky.social, I was inspired to try Advent of Code for the first time. Puzzles can be fun when you're not in a job interview! I just completed "Historian Hysteria" - Day 1 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/1

I ❤️ @bigchangecharity.bsky.social - the impact accelerator I have been supporting for nearly 10 years, working to see education prepare young people for life, not just exams.

One of my business and life heroes - now here on Bluesky. Richard (@richardbranson.bsky.social) was the catalyst in connecting me with the right people so I could start my #STEM scholarship with @virgingalactic.bsky.social and I am very grateful. www.virgin.com/virgin-unite...

If you're new to Bluesky and/or web performance, the wonderful @sia.codes has created an excellent starter pack of front-end #webperf folks to follow. bsky.app/starter-pack...

How cool is this: this is from the Bluesky firehose! What's so cool about this is: 1. The throwback style 2. That *any* dev can do this! Thanks to there being an API for this (no other social network allows this AFAIK) This API is a big reason to be bullish on Bluesky firehose3d.theo.io

For many years, I have been working within Bloomberg and with non-profit organizations such as #Stemettes to help women find pathways and leadership in #STEM careers. So when I attend a conference where every talk is keynote-quality, to see this speaker line-up is so encouraging. #PerfNow

Just discovering User Lists in @bsky.app … hoping to keep my feed here less frantic than the other place - seems you don’t have to follow people in your Lists, so you can easily separate tech, cat pictures and politics for when the mood takes you.

Having seen Harry (@csswizardry.com) speak so well at #PerfNow last week, I imagine this will be great!

So great to catch up with @jodiechan.bsky.social too at #PerfNow and discover her musical talents alongside her tech skills! I’ve always loved the music/tech crossover and it has been so good to hear Jodie’s music, under her artist name Joya.

After our talk at #PerfNow, a few people asked me if I kept the interest in music going - yes! In fact last year I collaborated with some young people to make an album at #RealWorldStudios, with all proceeds going to education projects supported by #BigChange. pcwilliams.design/cloudsurfing...

Thank you so much to the team at @perfnow.bsky.social for making us feel so welcome and giving us @bloomberglp.bsky.social folks such a warm reception. And thank you to @anniesullie.bsky.social, head of Core Web Vitals at Google for the shout-out - that means a lot to us. #PerfNow
